Spring cleaning

My carpet cleaner gave up the ghost. Well I worked out I must have had it 15 years, so not bad going. Bought a replacement and kinda got carried away today. Cleaned the lounge, office and my bedroom carpets. It’s made such a difference.

With 3 cats they were a tad filthy. Just look at the colour of that water!! 🤢

Speed

I feel the need, the need for speed! First spin up the gallop strip today. And boy did we both need it! Buddy felt absolutely amazing. It’s such a great feeling letting him run.

Can’t believe how warm it was today! What a difference a week makes. Last week I didn’t have enough layers. This week I had too many!

Lunch in the garden

After the snow, ice and freezing temperatures, it feels good to be able to get outside. Rather productive few hours cutting back the undergrowth. Still a lot to do. Good to make a start. And yes, I need to mow the lawn. I say lawn, it’s mostly moss. Good job I’ve got a scarifier. 😊

Snowdrops

These made me smile so much today. I love it when the snowdrops come out. Spring is definitely on the way. I’ve got crocuses and tulips popping up too.

Spring is my favourite season by far. I love the hope and optimism of it. Mother Nature is waking up and preparing to bloom!

Little surprises

Since I’ve had the kittens, they’ve been fighting over who gets to sit on my lap when I’m on the laptop. I get both of them on there some days.

Today I got a lovely surprise when Nero jumped up.

He’s a little bit bigger than they are, so it was a squeeze. He made it work and was purring away. He has his good days and bad days too. Today he was on good form and for that I’m very grateful.

Finish on a high

Having got that out of my system, I headed to the yard and popped Buddy over a few jumps. That put a big smile on my face as we were flying.

Finished the day off with another equestrian webinar. This time with Pippa Funnell and Mark Todd. Really interesting to hear their views on eventing. I’m loving hearing from the legends of the sport.

Not sure Hugo was as interested as I was Slightly distracting view if I’m honest. He does make me laugh though.

Squelch

It was a rather squelchy hack today. The ground is saturated after rain / snow / more rain. Still a few bits of snow on the ground and lots of standing water. So of course we used it as a bit of event training.

Buddy was happy to be out again too. He stomped through the mud, crunched through the snow and splashed through the water.

Fingers crossed we get to put it to the test this year.

Just what I needed too to blow away some cobwebs.

Reflections

Today has been a day of reflections. It’s been a day where I’ve looked back and seen just how far I’ve come.

I’ve learnt a lot about myself over the years. I’ve changed, grown and I’m very proud of the life I’ve made.

The things that motivate me have also changed. My life is simpler in some ways (and much more complicated in others). I know where I’m heading and what I want from my life.

Sometimes it good to take stock, learnt from your mistakes and look to your future.

My Valentine’s

I don’t need a rose.
I don’t need a card.
I have this gorgeous boy,
Waiting at the yard.

He makes me smile each day.
He makes my dreams come true.
And while he’s in my life,
I know I’ll never be blue.

Buddy sends kisses to anyone who needs them today. Happy Valentine’s Day.
