Roses are red

Took Katie over to Peter Beales Roses for a spot of lunch and a wander round the rose garden. Saw this sign hidden away. It’s very true for me. Roses are my favourite flowers.

They’re so versatile and give colour all years rounds. There were lots that had gone over but I still find the hips beautiful.

I’m an English Rose. And I’m pretty versatile. I’ll let you decide if I give colour all year round.

Soul time

My amazing friend Katie has come to visit this weekend. It’s been great showing her my part of the world. We walked down to the yard so she could meet Buddy. He gave her a good sniff and said hello. He’s heard a lot about her. And her him so lovely for them to meet each other.

After chatting most of the day and putting the world to rights, we headed to The Cantley Cock for dinner. Proper pub grub. Stuffed now!

Lucky Lemur

Got the chance to go to Carrow Road tonight to watch Norwich City. It’s the first time I’ve been to see them back in the Championship. I can’t say it was a classic match. But I’ll take a 2-0 win.

I really do miss going to the football. It was such a big part of my life for so many years. Still feels odd being ‘a punter’ and not ‘a lemur’. At least I was a lucky lemur tonight.

Balance

Today I knuckled down and ticked lots of things off my to-do list. I’ve had a busy few weeks, so felt like I was behind with lots. Having said that, I had promised myself a bit of an easier month in August.

The heat has almost forced my hand as I’ve really struggled to maintain my usual pace in it. My brain hasn’t wanted to focus either.

Today I felt like I was firing on a few more cylinders. And finished my working day feeling like I’ve made a dent in stuff.

Took Buddy out for a leg stretch after his busy week too. One of the advantages of being the boss is that I get to decide when I work and when I play. Well, most of the time…

Sometimes it’s more works. Sometimes it’s more play. I think that’s called balance.

Appreciation

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day apparently. Well my little black cat definitely appreciated my lap this afternoon. I sat down to have a late lunch and he jumped straight onto my lap. He was soon snoring. I felt really bad moving him but I needed to hit the shower and get on.

Spider

I had a trip down memory lane tonight as I walked past this car. I got an Alfa Spider in 2000. It was a proper driving car as it felt like it had a mind of its own sometimes. Very twitchy at times.

Totally unpractical of course. Especially for a horsey girl. I remember having to borrow a car on many an occasion to pick things up.

Sadly it didn’t last long as it was written off when I was rear ended by a 7.5t lorry. Yes, that’ll do it! It was significantly shorter after that. On the bother hand, the fact it was a soft top actually saved me from being seriously injured as it had extra reinforcement.

Mine was bright red. And I loved tearing round the country lanes in Sussex in it. Talk about low profile!

Glowing

They say horses sweat and women glow. Well quite frankly, I’m not sure which of us sweated the most tonight!

We headed out for a jump lesson at a new venue and with a new instructor, Ellie Hurst. Normally I’d be a little apprehensive. But we were both chilled. Since I’ve put Buddy on a balancer, he’s like a different horse.

Buddy was soon flying round the course. Few dodgy moments. And one flying lesson for me (haven’t had one of those for a while). Lots to like though!

Light and shade

Gosh it’s been hot again today. I know I sound like a broken record, but it’s getting a bit tiresome now. I’m really, really, REALLY hoping the rain they’re forecasting next week arrives. We desperately need it right now.

Still the heat has given me time to catch up on a few podcasts. The kittens joined me in the shade while I listened to them.

Buddymobile

The Buddymobile failed its MOT last week so I’ve had a nervous few days while it’s been fixed. Picked it back up this morning after being sorted and retested. Such a relief. Though I will be eating bean on toast for a bit…

I’ve had my little lorry nearly 3 years now. And I bloody love it! I smile every time I take it for a spin.

It got a new admirer today as a woman stopped me at the petrol station to ask if it was for sale. She said it was just what she was looking for. We got talking about horses, as you do.

Typically I can’t go anywhere as it’s too hot to travel Buddy right now. He seems to have adapted to the hot weather much better than I have. Today I found I’d empty the recycling bin in to the garden waste bin. Not a clue when I actually emptied the recycling bin.

Roll on cooler days and my brain firing on all cylinders again.

Gongs

Tonight I went to a Sound Bath in Hemsby. I hadn’t got a clue where I was going and ended up having a bit of a detour. Still made it on time. The Sound Bath was held in a yert, on a holiday park. It was really cool, the yert that is. I got to watch the light fad as the gongs played.

After feeling out of sorts for a few days, this was just what I needed. I’ll sleep well tonight. I always do after one.

Leaving to come home, the moon was so bright. It lit the way for me. It’s full at the moment, so could contributing to why I’ve been feeling weird.
