Two Castles

This afternoon we got out and explored a bit. First a late Sunday lunch in a castle at Edgehill and then on to see Warwick Castle.

It was closed, but we got to see a bit of it. This is my Castle face! I do love a castle, a tower and a turret. One for the list to come and check out properly in the future.

Little Kineton

My home away from home for the next few days. Talk about chocolate box! What a gorgeous place to stay.

Shakespeare County is stunning. Lots of rolling hills, green fields and sheep! Seems appropriate that I’m here to write copy. Let’s hope my prose is as good as his!

Bog monster

Buddy fully embraced his Irish breeding with a well-deserved mud pack roll in the sunshine. Seems appropriate as it’s St Patrick’s Day.

He definitely earned it after a cracking jumping lesson this morning with Lewis from Neric Equestrian. The improvement on our last lesson was marked. So were the heights as ‘Whack ‘em up Palmer’ was on full form.

We were flying 1m+ jumps by the end. Put the biggest smile on my face. Even with an unscheduled dismount. When it’s good, my goodness it’s good!! Need to get out to a competition and put it all into practise.

HGV

Today my little lorry had delusions of grandeur parked in the HGV car park. The Buddymobile looked tiny next to the huge rigs. It’s a rarity to find a space big enough usually – no problem here! 😝

New shoes

Buddy had his pedicure and new shoes today. It’s a horsey joke that he gets new shoes every 6 week and I can’t remember the last time I bought a new pair for me. True though. I really can’t remember the last pair of shoes I bought.

He’s totally worth it though.

Speed demon

This is the face of someone who’s just let her horse gallop flat out up the gallop strip.

First time this year. And very much needed.

Not as much control as I would have liked over the speed as someone wanted to run!! He was definitely embracing his TB breeding today.

But he came back as soon as I asked and that’s the main thing. 🐎😍 Good job we both love going fast.

Groom’s life

First ODE of the year. But as a groom to these gorgeous boys at Poplar Park.

I got up at 4:44am and left my friend’s yard at 4:44pm. Spooky! Fuelled by caffeine, good company and horse slober, the day flew by.

I am pooped now. Aching from walking over 5 miles (and they say the horse does all the work). Yet beaming from ear to ear!

I love a horsey outing.

Dead wood

Today it was the turn of the front garden to be tamed. Even mowing the lawn made a huge difference. I got the hedge cutter out and cut back the hedge under my living room windows.

In the recent storms, it has started to sound like something out of a ‘Hammer House of Horror’ film as the branches scratched and banged on the windows. 😱

Still a long way to go but pleased with the result so far. Sometimes we need to get rid of the dead wood to allow things to grow again.

Pony pals

Buddy made a new friend today. In fact, I’d say they were pretty enamoured with each other. He kept looking at her and she kept looking back. 😊

Lovely hack out with Rachel and her beautiful Midge. It may have been windy, but at least we missed the rain.

Two pony play dates in one week Buddy Boy! Such a lucky boy.
