Subtle hints

What do you think Hugo is trying to tell me?! He sat wailing on the food box earlier. The major issue was that he started 4 hours before dinner.

He made his views clear on this too. Rather distracting as I tried to do some work. After a few days of my brain being nowhere able to do any work, it was very good to get the grey cells going again.

Holiday blues

This is the face of a horse who isn’t impressed with the fact that his Christmas holiday is over. He’s had over two weeks off. We’ve done a lot in 2023, so I thought he deserved a bit of a break.

I was expecting a few fireworks after his time off. Buddy had other ideas. He seemed most put out that he had to work.

He was very pleased to see me though. And I was very pleased to see him.

Tired

I’m more tired than the Mayor of Tiredsville right now. It was a really struggle getting up this morning when the alarm went off. Can’t say I was at my best today peopling. Hopefully I didn’t make any mistakes.

I told one of the other receptionists the hours I’d done this week. Her reaction? How are you still standing?!

I sometimes ask myself the same question.

The kittens have definitely missed me. They’ve both stayed close. Lots of cuddles on the sofa were the order of the day. Not sure what they’ve got to be tired about though. Maybe they’ve been partying too while I’ve been away.

Advance party

I’ve arrived!! Really smooth run through. And with only one pee stop. Blimey Wales is a long way from Norfolk.

This is the calm before the chaos starts tomorrow. We hit the pool. Well I say pool, it was more jacuzzi, stream room and sauna. It’s more than I got to do last year. And will probably be the last time I see it before I leave.

We headed over to one of the restaurants for dinner. This one is in the clubhouse that was built for the Ryder Cup in 2010. It’s pretty cool. As was my dinner. A winning start me thinks.

Hard at it

It’s been full on this week. I’m two weeks out for the big conference I’m helping to organise. It’s hit that stage where there are lots of deadlines and moving parts. It’s been a bit chaotic. But nothing I can’t handle. Well today anyway.

It helps when I have the best stress outlet going. Though today, someone was a tad spooky. Buddy was very weirded out by the cobwebs everywhere. To be fair to him, there were everywhere!! Guess he’s not a fan of Halloween.

Snoring symphony

This is one of my doggie charges, Flip. She’s snoring in my arms. The other doggie charge, Bailey, is snoring in the corner. I’m being treated to quite the snoring symphony! It always amazes me how much dogs actually sleep.

I’d say they’ve been supportive team mates as I worked this afternoon, but they’ve been sleeping on the job. It’s just like being at home. Except louder.

Funny how an animal snoring is cute whereas a person snoring is murder inducing. Though I have been told I have a cute snore, so make of that what you will.

Iridescent

The sun was so weird today. It was really hazy. It looked like an LED light in the sky.

It was eerily quiet as well. That was actually good. I woke up I’m determined mood and ticked so many things off my list. After a few down days, today was a very productive one.

Monsoon

Well it was monsoon season in Norwich this afternoon. There was rather a lot of rain.

I’ve been peopling this week so been having some wonderful chats. It’s lovely to catch up with lots of the clients I haven’t seen for a while. One even squealed when she arrived and saw me behind the desk.

Another arrived soaked to the bone after getting caught in the deluge. Ever practical, I got her a towel and a gown to change into while I put her clothes in the tumble drier. She was very thankful indeed.

Sometimes a little act of kindness can make a huge difference. Though she did get a few odd looks in the gown.

Reminiscing

I love it when you reconnect with someone special from your past. I got a message from a lady I used to work with in Worthing many moons ago.

We lost touch when I moved to Norwich and she left when they closed the building.

Today we spent 1.5 hours on the phone catching up on the past 15 years. It was like no time had passed at all. We picked right up where we left off.

We reminisced about our time working together, our fitness efforts and nights out clubbing. So much has changed and so much still the same.

We’re both older. Some may say wiser. But the reason we connected back then, still hold true today.

Hybrid

On the train home from a brilliant day in London helping to run the AGM for one of my clients.

I wasn’t feeling so brilliant when the alarm went off this morning. I’m not sure I’ll ever join the 5am club. It isn’t my best time! I can do it. I’m just not at my most scintillating.

Thankfully after a few coffees and a croissant normal service had been resumed. The whole day ran to plan. Even with a couple of shuffles in the agenda. We had a hybrid meeting. So people in the room as well as on zoom. I was there to make sure both ran smoothly.

Another good day in the office. Virtually and physically.
