Pub pup

Bert went to the pub for lunch today. Yes, I know he’s underage at a mere 12 weeks. So we kept him away from the hard stuff. He was rather well behaved for his first outing. He didn’t start any fights – even with a rather large pointer shouting at him. He didn’t pee or throw up. Better than some I’ve seen in the pub. He also got lots of fuss and attention.

We had a lovely relaxed lunch. After a lovely long ride out. Then back to the yard for my friends to pop some jumps. While Bert slept off his pub lunch…

Party animal

Bert had a busy day today. After meeting the yard dog, he had a quick trip back to see his Mum, Dad and Brother. It was so touching seeing his Mum’s reaction. She was very happy to see him. But put him in his place too when he needed it. He had lots of zoomies with his brother too.

Tonight he had even more zoomies with his new friend Jester at his first Christmas Party. I wish I’d taken some video of them chasing each other round the dining room table. Hours of fun! He will sleep well tonight, that’s for sure.

He’s brought so much joy to my life already. And everyone else’s given the impact me made at the party tonight. It seems he’s quite the Party Animal.

Double decker

Bert had his second jab today. He was a little confused about being back at the vets with no activities after last night’s Puppy Pre-School. He was very happy when he got to choose a new toy afterwards though. In fact, he got 3 new toys and an antler to chew. It appears I am that dog-owner.

His second jab knocked him for six so he’s spent a lot of today asleep. I took advantage of the calm to get lots done.

Dodo took advantage of the top deck! I’d put the radiator bed up there as I couldn’t open the crate door. There was lots of purring and snoring going on.

Of course, Bert was fully refreshed this evening, tearing round the living room. He loves his antler and has been chomping away on it. Now he’s had his vaccinations, he’ll soon be able to explore more and have some puppy play dates. Exciting times ahead!

Sleep deprived

This is what Bert makes of it all. He’s crashed out. Not surprised he’s tired after needing to go out 3 times last night. We all are! I’m not sure he’s been getting enough sleep. I’m finding it hard to get him to settle at times. He seems to settle best when he’s with me. He needs so much sleep at the moment. So doing my best to give him what he needs.

I know that the broken night’s won’t last. We’ve had some better nights. But last night wasn’t our best. I’ve realised that I’m not at my best when I don’t sleep well either. Lots of tears today. I’m overtired and very emotional too. I know I’m starting to allow myself to grieve for my Mum.

I absolutely adore Bert. I can’t imagine him life without him now. He makes me laugh so much. He’s so loving and cuddly. A puppy is really hard work. Especially when it’s just me. I feel like I need eyes everywhere right now. But I’m determined to give him the best start. If that means a bit more sleep deprivation, so be it.

I can sleep when I’m dead…

Sleeping Beauty

Well it wasn’t 14 hours, but nearly 12! Today has been about catching up on sleep and food. I’d love to say that I emerged from my bed like Sleeping Beauty. Sadly I looked more like the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Very crumpled indeed!! And my feet are still very sore.

I felt dreadful too. That’ll be the adrenaline of this week leaving my body. I know the drill. But this time I’m trying to get ahead of the comedown. I’ve had some lovely messages of thanks about the Conference.

I’ve promised myself a quieter December. So let’s see what that looks like….

Hosconf24

Well that’s it done!! Another Conference done and dusted. I woke up at 5am and have just got into bed at 2am the next day!! A very, very long day!!

But an amazing one! It wasn’t without its hitches, no event is. So far the feedback I’ve had has been overwhelmingly positive.

My feet hurt, my body hurts and my brain has gone. I know I did good. We all did. It was amazing to be part of such a wonderful team.

I will sleep very well tonight….

Cuddles

When you’ve been out for the second evening running and you’ve been terribly missed. Hugo is currently trying to get in my gillet with me. He’s so cute.

Not quite so cute when he woke me up at 4am trying to sleep on me. Then Dodo woke me up at 7am dry heaving. That’s a sound that means I’d give Usain Bolt a run for his money.

I am very tired today. So early night for me. Well once I extract myself from Hugo. If his purrs could heal, he’d be a master. They’ve both been very attentive since my Mum died. They know, they really do.

Cans

While my Dad was having a nap, I cracked on with some work. As he was still asleep when I finished, I thought I’d catch up with some online training. I didn’t want to wake him, so borrowed my Mum’s headphones. Or cans as we’ve always called them.

Not sure it my best look. Made me giggle. So did the fact I’d matched the wall in my parents dining room.

Young guns

Buddy definitely slept better than I did. I had a bad night. We had lots of rain overnight. Which meant the Buddymobile leak got worse. Luckily I had some tea towels to mop up the water.

Coffee was my friend today. But thankfully my excitement of getting to ride Buddy at another camp kept me going too.

Buddy came out a bit all guns blazing for our lesson. Not sure it was our best effort. I’m definitely not match sharp. Or fit enough. I can feel I’ve lost some of my core strength.

I’ve been rescued tonight as I’m in a motorhome. Good job too as there are more showers. I will sleep well tonight…

Basket case

Hugo decided today that the laundry basket was the best place to sleep this afternoon. I’m glad I noticed before I picked it up! That could have been interesting.

I’m such a soft tough sometimes, rather than disturb him, I got the laundry off the line in small batches.

I’d love to say that he was appreciative. Not sure he opened an eye.
