Roots

I was rudely awakened by the builders this morning. They’re doing my neighbour’s roof. He’s 99, so I greatly admire his optimism!

My roof could benefit for being redone too. It’s on the list. Along with many other things that need to be done around my little house. And garden. It’s never ending. But then it struck me today that I’ve lived here for a decade in October. Things are going to need to be looked at after that length of time.

It also struck me that apart from my childhood, this is the longest I’ve ever lived in one place. I’ve definitely put down roots here.

It still makes me smile when I drive round the corner of the close and see my little house. I’m not sure where a decade has gone. But I’m happy here.

Lookout

This made me laugh today when I was at the yard. Turned round to find this heron keeping a watchful eye on proceedings. I’ve never seen one on a roof before. They’re usually in the reeds.

Made me wonder what he was looking for. Maybe he’s on Santa watch for all the other birds.

Stuffed

You know when feel like you’re being watched. Well I was as I got home. Spotted these monkeys on the roof. Not my best photo but you get the drift. They love running around up there. It’s a bit disconcerting when I’m lying in bed though I can tell you.

Went out to The Real Greek tonight. Really enjoyed it. The food was lush. And yes I am now as stuffed as a vine leaf!

Indoor hacking

Blimey! What a wet old day. Grateful to be able to do a bit of indoor hacking today. Still got soaked walking to and from the indoor school.

Typically I got home to find my new long riding coat had been delivered. Oh my days, it’s gorgeous. I didn’t want to take it off as I was so toasty. Looking forward to test driving it tomorrow. 👏🏻

Unfortunately I got home to a new water feature and a puddle on the floor. My garage gutter wasn’t draining away so water was pouring into the log store. And my roof has sprung a leak. Good job I have lots of waterproofs as I clambered up the ladder to sort the gutter. It was simple once I saw the issue. Not a clue how it moved but the down pipe was totally covered. Very odd.

Tried to see if I could see what was happening with the roof. Still clueless on that one. But at least I sorted one of them.

PR Pip

Today has been such a fun day. I got to people this morning when I went to a face to face networking meeting. I did a session on how to introduce yourself with confidence. It seemed to have gone down well.

This evening I’ve been interviewed twice for different purposes. One about my coaching go journey and the other about taming your inner voice. I love getting the chance to speak to people. I’m definitely a people person.

All great opportunities for me to do a bit of PR for me and my businesses.

This was the sight that greeted me when I’d finished the second interview. It seems Hugo is still loving the conservatory roof. 🤦🏻‍♀️He’s a funny little boy.

Bumps in the night

For a few nights now, I’ve been woken up by loud bumps on the roof. I assumed it was pigeons as they tend to land with the grace of a baby elephant.

This morning there was a loud bang on the conservatory roof. Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw Hugo!! It seems he’s worked out how to climb onto my bungalow roof.

He looked rather pleased with himself as he wandered around up there. He wasn’t quite as graceful climbing down. I may have a few more scratches to add to the collection…

He’s a little monkey it seems.
