Welcome to blog! I started it in 2020 to chart my recovery from breaking my ankle (hence the name). I guess no-one saw a global pandemic coming. It's turned into a place where I can talk about the things happening in my life, my horse and my cats. Enjoy!
How pretty is this rose? It’s almost glowing. The only issues is that it really shouldn’t be flowering right now. It’s so mild, I have lots of things coming back. My sweet peas have started to grow again.
Not that I’m complaining. My garden looks really pretty with lots of new growth. My lawn needs mowing. But it’s nearly November.
The weather feels as surreal as my life right now. So I’m grounding myself and focusing on the little things.
Buddy finally had his first clip today. I’ve had to put it back twice as he didn’t have much to clip! It’s been so mild that he’s been getting a bit sweaty. So glad he’s done.
Clipping with Buddy has been quite the journey. He’s gone from histrionics to mild indifference. We were reminiscing about some of his antics. He’s rather ticklish so he’s still expressive. He still doesn’t like his ears or face doing. But for the most part, he was a really good boy for Beki.

How stunning does this tree look?! It seems to have exploded almost overnight. Spring is definitely in the air. It was so mild today that I didn’t need a coat or gillet. And even then I was a bit warm.
After feeling utterly fed up yesterday, today I felt much more level. A good night sleep, a good pep talk and a good day really helped. Seems Positive Pip is coming back after Negative Nancy reared her head yesterday. Hopefully she’s back in her box again.
The things that I was fed up with yesterday haven’t changed. But my perspective has I guess. Sometimes you just have to accept what’s going on, sit with it and hope the answers will present themselves.
OK so today was rather weird. I went for a hack in a fleece. It’s January, right?! It was so mild today I was too hot in my coat. And that wasn’t even my winter coat.
It was very grey and murky out today. There were so many geese out there too. God they’re loud!! Buddy and the geese had a bit of a stare-off. Eventually he caved and spooked as they flew off. Which then caused more of the geese to fly away. Then they got even louder!!
The honking made me laugh.
It may have only been a week since I rode last, but it’s felt like longer. This was the perfect tonic to my ‘jet-lagged’ state this morning. Even though I haven’t left the time zone, it’s the only way I can describe how I felt when I woke up this morning.
After a morning of catching up on life, Buddy and I went out for a long stroll. It’s a weird time of the year. I can’t tell what time it is. Or to be honest, what day! This photo was taken at 1:30pm, but felt like 3pm. Weird.
What was also weird was the temperature! It was so mild today. Buddy was dripping when we got back and he’s been clipped. I overlayered too. So we were both hot messes.
Mother Nature is as confused as we are in this weird world. Still, it means I haven’t had to break out the big rugs or thick coats yet.
