Two kids

Well I’ve made it to our first training camp of 2025. Hurrah! This is the first time I’ve been away with two kids, Buddy and Bert. My god, they need a lot!

The Buddymobile felt a bit cramped with it all. I also needed three lists! And I still forgot the poo bags and toilet roll. It’s much better now Buddy is tucked up in his stable and Bert is tucked up in his crate in the horse area.

I’m tucked up in the living. As much as I love the Buddymobile, it’s definitely time for a bigger lorry! Bert’s arrival means I need more living. Well that’s my excuse! I want a toilet and a fridge too.

So far both kids are behaving very well. Coming to Forest Edge is such a happy place for me. I know Buddy loves it here. And it seems Bert might too after zoomies in the forest. Buddy, on the other hand, had a leisurely walk before the lessons start tomorrow. Bring on the learning…

Productive

I listened to a really interesting podcast that was talking about good daily habits. One of the things discussed was to only have 6 things on your to-do list each day. And write it the night before.

Now I love a to-do list. But I can get a bit carried away and have many more than 6. Then I get a bit overwhelmed and faff about.

When I saw this list, it made me giggle. Good tips there…

I tried the new to-do list today. And I had a very productive day.

Ticking ‘em off

After feeling out of sorts yesterday, I was much more grounded today. And rather motivated to tick things off my to-do list.

Yesterday I also realised the tax had run out on the Comedy Car – at the end July! So got that sorted out. It made me take a look at my to-do list to see what else had fallen down it. Today, I reversed it and ticked off lots of the small, annoying things on there.

Mother Nature gave me a helping hand with a few of them. Watering the garden, cleaning my tack, washing the Comedy Car….

We got soaked on our ride, so tack cleaning was definitely needed after that. The rain helped my garden and cleaned my car. So three more ticks right there!

Anyone else add things to their list, just to tick them off?!

Tad tired

I slept really heavily last night. So of course, I woke up feeling even more tired. Why does that happen?!

Thankfully I didn’t have any meetings in my diary, so I took it easy. Well easy for me. Still got a lot done. Almost finished the camp laundry. It’s amazing how much washing Buddy and I can create in 3 days!

Tomorrow I’m going to tackle the cleaning. There’s a bit of that too!

Shades of summer

After being so cold earlier in the week, it seems Summer may be waking up. Definitely overlayered today.

But got 3 loads of washing dried on the line. That makes me very happy. After a busy few weeks, I needed a catch up day. Had lots of admin to do this morning – work, life and show!

But it was far too nice to stay at the laptop all at. So I took Buddy out for a lovely hack. Then he got a bath and a tidy up.

I definitely ticked a lot off the various lists today. Of course I added a few bits. Anyone else add things to the list so they can cross them off..?!?

Lists

I woke up in a very determined mood today. It resulted in an awful lot of things getting ticked off my various to-do lists. I say various, I mean I have a lot of lists. One for each of my clients. One for Buddy. One for me. One for the house. One for food shopping. I do love a list!!

There’s a new list too called ‘Champs’. That’s had a few things ticked off as well. Printed my numbers, a map of the show ground and a few other bits of information, just in case.

Sadly Hugo is not on the ‘Champs’ list. He will be very disappointed when I take my bedding to the lorry tomorrow. I’m now more excited than nervous. Fingers crossed it stays like that.

Easy breezy

I spent many hours in the garden today. I’ve ticked so many things off my garden to-do list. Felt very good.

Headed to the yard to see Buddy. And ended up going out for a hack. Rather windy out, definitely blew away any cobwebs.

Year end

Let’s face it, 2021 was an interesting year. We were so optimistic about how much better it would be than 2020. And in some ways it was. But boy did the challenges keep coming.

One thing I enjoy about the year end is looking back at the things I’ve achieved. This year I was struggling to see what those were. So I took some time to look closer. There was a lot that didn’t happen. But there was a lot that did.

In time honoured tradition, I made a list…

So, in 2021 I:

  • recovered from Covid
  • made the best of Covidland
  • saw my business grow
  • picked up new clients
  • met some incredible people
  • lost touch with some others
  • saw friendships deepen
  • saw friendships wain
  • laughed till I cried
  • cried till I laughed
  • watched people grow
  • learnt new skills
  • kept blogging even if no-one read it
  • kept putting one foot in front of the other
  • took Buddy to 4 training camps
  • won rosettes
  • got more bruises
  • had lots of lessons
  • visited new places
  • made more memories
  • supported my parents
  • lost Nero
  • watched the kittens grow
  • met my eventing heroine Lucinda Green
  • had her teach me and interview me
  • put myself out there
  • took time to develop myself
  • felt the love and support of others

But above all, I’ve taken time for me. I’ve learnt a hell of a lot about myself this year. I’m ending it in a better place than I started it.

If you’re reading this, I’d like to thank you for being part of this year and my journey.

Here’s to 2022 and whatever it holds for us all. Fingers and toes crossed it’s a good one.
