Bye bye Burghley

That’s Burghley done for another year. Another fantastic experience and more memories made. Lovely company. Lovely weather. And lots of lovely horses. What more could you want.

My legs are aching and my feet are very sore. I think I’ve probably done a full week’s worth of steps this weekend and some.

Given the number of people who attend each year, I’m always amazed at how many people I bump into. So lovely to see so many familiar faces.

The only blip on a wonderful weekend, was losing my notch bracelet. Still no sign of it, but hopefully it’ll turn up.

I’ve come home inspired. Bye bye Burghley. Till next year…

Back at Badders

It’s been wonderful being back at Badders today. The house looked at spectacular as I remembered it.

Up early to get there in plenty of time, the sat sav said we were due to arrive at 8:45am. We actually got into the car park at 10:45am having sat in traffic for 2 hours to go the final 5 miles.

I was gutted to miss the Lucinda Green XC Academy meet up. I’d been looking forward to meeting people I’ve been speaking to for over 2 years. But it wasn’t meant to be today.

The ground was heavy and very muddy. It was definitely a work out walking the course. I walked 7.1 miles over the undulating ground. The XC course was proving to be a very testing track indeed. The scoreboard made interesting reading at the end.

Now on the way home. Feeling tired, aching but very, very inspired!

Next year I’m determined to be there for the duration. Bring it on…

Blathering

Fab day at Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials. Bumped into so many people, it was lovely catching up with everyone.

Made some new friends too. One of those random moments where you get chatting to someone at a fence. Next thing you know you’ve spent several hours chatting. Then they pop home and bring a bottle of wine to share with everyone.

The eventing at inspiring too. So many top riders to geek over. And top horses to dribble over. I came away rather rosey cheeked (sunburn not the wine), very inspired and with a new show jacket. We will definitely look the part if nothing else.

Today has been a very good day.

Stressage

Fear not good people, Buddy and I haven’t entered the boards. But I did get to watch some dressage today. It was fun being at a horse thing, without doing the horse thing.

Great catching up with some lovely people. And being extra groom and videographer. Saw this quote on the toilet wall and it made me smile. It’s rather apt too.

It might be time for me to dust off Buddy’s dancing shoes as well. Kinda felt a bit inspired watching it today. Of course, that may pass…

Bank holiday outing

Fab day out at Houghton Hall today for the unaffiliated Eventing. It couldn’t have been a more glorious day. It was great to catch up with lots of people. As well as watching the Eventing of course.

Definitely felt inspired. One day we might make it there to compete ourselves. It’s a stunning location and the XC course looked like a lot of fun.

Oh and I may have bought myself a new gillet. Well it was my birthday yesterday. And a girl simply can’t have enough, right?!

I nearly caused a bit of an issue though. Stopped to pet one of the jump judge’s dog. Somehow it got caught under a table, lost the plot, slipped its lead and ran off. Thankfully we caught it and I was able to return it unharmed.

Only me, huh?!
