Teasels

I spotted these teasels while walking Bert today. They reminded me of my Nanna and wonderful Saturday afternoon memories from my childhood. She lived in a flat in Brighton, well Hove actually (in joke there). One of her neighbours taught me how to comb wool with teasels. And spin it into yarn. Who knew I could be rather skilful with a spinning wheel. She also tried to teach me to crochet. I wasn’t very good at that! My Nanna taught me how to knit. I was OK at that. My Mum, on the other hand, was an avid knitter. The constant clacking of needles was a very familiar sound growing up.

It’s funny how objects can stir such memories. Got me thinking about all of the other things I can do. I have so many skills. Not sure I have many talents. But I can do an awful lot of things. I’ve probably forgotten quite a few too.

I can feel a bit of a skills audit coming on. Not sure my abilities with a spinning wheel are in high demand. But you never know…

Right now, I need to put some more energy into my business and find a few more clients.

Monsoon

Well it was monsoon season in Norwich this afternoon. There was rather a lot of rain.

I’ve been peopling this week so been having some wonderful chats. It’s lovely to catch up with lots of the clients I haven’t seen for a while. One even squealed when she arrived and saw me behind the desk.

Another arrived soaked to the bone after getting caught in the deluge. Ever practical, I got her a towel and a gown to change into while I put her clothes in the tumble drier. She was very thankful indeed.

Sometimes a little act of kindness can make a huge difference. Though she did get a few odd looks in the gown.

Sweet treat

I was given a sweet treat today while I was peopling. One of the clients brought in a crème egg for us all. Very sweet indeed.

For many years, I found crème eggs too sweet. But they’ve either changed the recipe or my tastes have changed, cause this one wasn’t too bad.

It reminded me of having to order enough crème eggs for people at Aviva when we did the name change. We had the idea of ‘how do you wear yours?’ to encourage people to switch their security pass to the new branding. It worked as we didn’t have many passes or eggs left.

Chatty woman

Today has been one of those lovely days where I’ve got to catch up and chat non-stop. First with a number of client’s at the chiros.

Then with Anni as I got to met her new puppy Ruby, who is as adorable as her photos. And we had our first ride together of 2023.

Finally I met up with some of my Virgin Ladies for dinner. I am all chatted out. Who am I kidding?! I could chat for England.
