caterwaul

I saw this and it made me smile. Buddy and I did that this morning on yet another wind-assisted hack. It’s a good job he’s not that bothered by the wind. Of course a piece of flapping plastic on the ground – terrifying!!

I was feeling slightly jaded after a weird night. Woken up by cat wails in the early hours. Jumped out of bed to find the big ginger cat in my conservatory fighting with a tabby. Assumed it was Dodo and tried to break it up. They both ran out the cat flap and carried on fighting on the lawn. 😱

Dodo is so small next to the ginger Tom, I honestly thought it would kill him. So rushed out there calling and calling as they both ran off.

Came back in the house to get treats to find Dodo sat on my office chair!

I know I was very bleary eyed but I’m still not sure who was fighting in my conservatory!! All I know is my heart rate went up and there was enough cat fur to fill a cushion!!

Why don’t people neuter their pets?! It’s usually caused by intact males. And yes, I’m going to get a trap set to catch the ginger one. Hopefully he’ll be microchipped.

Jump into 2023

Buddy and I had our first lesson of 2023. I was a little apprehensive as our last lesson of 2022 ended with a face plant for us both. I needn’t have worried. Buddy was in good form.

As it was the first lesson, we kept it simple. Still we were flying over a 105cm upright. Buddy found his springs for sure.

Got home and it was time to open the laptop and get back to work. I’ve really enjoyed my time off over Christmas and New Year. It’s been a fab break with lots of lovely people.

Dodo was very happy indeed that I was back at the laptop. He was purring so loudly on my lap.

Lapcat

After a long day, I swapped the laptop for a lapcat. Hugo was waiting for me and started putting the minute I sat down. I remember reading that a cat’s purr can be therapeutic. If that’s the case, I’m definitely getting my monies worth.

Kitten in a basket

So yesterday Hugo claimed my new barrow in a box. Today saw Dodo claim the log basket while I was waiting for the rain to stop so I could fill it.

Made me smile as it’s the perfect size for him. Of course if it was actually a cat basket, he wouldn’t want to know. I‘m not sure I’ll ever understand cat logic.

Lists

I woke up in a very determined mood today. It resulted in an awful lot of things getting ticked off my various to-do lists. I say various, I mean I have a lot of lists. One for each of my clients. One for Buddy. One for me. One for the house. One for food shopping. I do love a list!!

There’s a new list too called ‘Champs’. That’s had a few things ticked off as well. Printed my numbers, a map of the show ground and a few other bits of information, just in case.

Sadly Hugo is not on the ‘Champs’ list. He will be very disappointed when I take my bedding to the lorry tomorrow. I’m now more excited than nervous. Fingers crossed it stays like that.

Puddy pile

I got back from the yard today to find Hugo had found a new sleeping place. He was rather precariously balanced on my saddle pads and dressage saddle.

It reminded me of ‘The Princess and the Pea’. Not sure how comfortable it is, but he seems happy. Not sure he’s going to be happy when I take the saddle pads to the yard and someone buys the saddle. Of course, it might be dead to him by then. Cats tend to be a bit fickle with where they sleep.

Melted kittens

I think I’m adapting to the heat slightly better than the kittens. After taking Buddy out for an early morning ride, I got home to find Hugo wailing round the house.

He spend most of the day in the office with me in front of the fan. Dodo has been hiding in the borders. There’s definitely been a cooling breeze out here.

My laptop seemed to be hotter than I was today. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been hot, but not unbearable. Or maybe I’ve just found a way to keep my office cooler.

Hugo has discovered the joys of the shade lounger. As soon as it was in shade, he staked his claim and isn’t moving.

Bring on cooler weather and hopefully a big thunderstorm to clear the air.
