Honestly, I left the room for a second. Dodo was straight in there. I’d forgotten how kittens like to get into EVERYTHING! I’m going to have to start thinking ahead. Still they’ll keep me on my toes.

Welcome to blog! I started it in 2020 to chart my recovery from breaking my ankle (hence the name). I guess no-one saw a global pandemic coming. It's turned into a place where I can talk about the things happening in my life, my horse and my cats. Enjoy!
Honestly, I left the room for a second. Dodo was straight in there. I’d forgotten how kittens like to get into EVERYTHING! I’m going to have to start thinking ahead. Still they’ll keep me on my toes.

Back home after my trip down South to see my parents. Dad made sure that I wouldn’t go hungry as he sent me off with a food parcel! He and Mum have revived lots of food parcels themselves during lockdown. More than they could have eaten and some they didn’t like. I’m very grateful for the selection of goodie and will make good use of it all.
It’s been an emotional few days. I’m glad I made the trip to see them. My ankle is aching now, but then it is the furthest I’ve driven this year!
The boys are very pleased to see me.

Today I went to catch up with my oldest friend Debbie. We met when I was 4 and we’re still friends now. Sure we don’t speak all the time, but my god we can still talk! 2 hours flew by in a blink. We could have talked all day and still not have run out of things to say.
She found some photos of our camping trip to Pevensey Bay. So many memories! We had such a laugh taking photos on the beach. And trying to dye our hair!

Today I saw my Mum and Dad for the first time since 27 December last year! Mum is Covid free, but still has a long way to go in her recovery. First time in PPE for me (apron, gloves and mask) and sanitised within an inches of my life! But worth it to make her smile (I’m smiling too obviously). She was so pleased to see me!
Lovely catching up with Dad too. It’s been too long since I’ve seen them both.

After my ROARTour yesterday, today was a chill out day. Did a few jobs around the house and put up my new garden wall hanging. It will remind me that I have strong roots to keep me grounded. Doesn’t it look great?!

Today I went to catch up with two lovely ladies who’ve both been a great support to me during lockdown.
First a trip to Tivershall St Margaret to spend the morning walking and talking. I got to explore the ruined church of St Mary’s. It’s stunning! But I am a fan of a ruined church.
Then on to Rendlesham to spend the afternoon sitting and talking.
Now home on the sofa with the boys. What a lovely day!

So it’s been an interesting couple of cat-related days. Hugo seems none the worse for his snip yesterday or his antics with the cone of shame. Hoping Dodo is the same next week after his. Glad I realised she was a he before we rocked up at the vets.
Still getting used to calling him he after weeks of making a conscious effort to say she. But he doesn’t seem to be bothered in the least bit. Still a cuddle monster!

Today’s interesting twist in my rollercoaster life is that my gorgeous girly Dolce, is actually a gorgeous guy! Good job I checked before he went in to be spayed. 🤦🏻♀️
He will still stay as Dolce or Dodo as it’s stuck now. I said I wanted boys originally and now I have four in my life if you include Nero and Buddy.
Today has been one of those days that’s made me appreciate the little things in life. Taking Hugo to the vets without having to hand him over in a car park. Having a leisurely lunch out with a good friend. Spending the evening catching up with another. And talking to my Mum on the phone.
Makes you appreciate how weird life has been in recent months. It almost felt normal – whatever that is. I hope I never take these things for granted.

Well that was stressful! Hugo came through his operation without issue. Got him home and put the ‘cone of shame’ on. Well he DID NOT LIKE THAT!! He threw himself about, got it off 4 times and made his boy bits bleed. Thankfully he hadn’t burst his stitches. Honestly the things I have to do!
Keep him calm they said. Restrict his exercise they said. He’ll be tired they said. Not a bit of it. He was tearing round the living room like his tail was on fire. So he’s now sulking back in the cage and wailing. He is not a happy camper. Lord only knows what Dodo is going to be like next week.
Still he got a clean bill of health and quite a few new fans at the vets. They all thought he was adorable too. Oh and they think he’s going to be big!
