Assembly

It’s been way too long since I caught up with this beauty. She’s one of my ‘wise women’. I love chatting to her. We met at the Assembly House for lunch. Both of us having major flashbacks to events there. We both worked at Aviva, but didn’t know each other then. We mixed in the same circles, but it was only after we both left, we met through horses.

We have so much in common. We’re both Sussex girls and used to work for London & Edinburgh in Worthing many moons ago. Funny how life goes like that. You have chances to meet and don’t. But then when the stars align, it’s magical.

Even though we have caught up for ages, it was like no time had passed at all. I love it when that happens. Thank you Anna, you were definitely good for my soul today.

Adventurer

Tori James was one of the speakers at the Hoseasons Conference I worked on last month. Her story was so real. She’s an ordinary person who achieved something extraordinary. And she was such a lovely person. She gave me a copy of her book when she’d finished.

Today I woke up feeling a bit flat and rather snotty. So I thought I’d read it. It was a quick read. But a very inspiring one. Her journey to being the first Welsh woman to climb Everest is pretty special.

I love her sign off. ‘With passion, planning and self-belief you can achieve more than you ever thought possible. Remember your next adventure could be just around the corner.’

It got me thinking. As the year draws to an end, I can reflect back on the many adventures I’ve had this year. I’ve ticked many things off my bucket list. I’ve achieved things I never thought I could. Think it’s time to start making my 2024 adventure list…

Wise woman

I met up with one of my wise women for coffee and a chat. I say chat, I did most of the chatting. There’s been a lot going on. Again. I feel like every time we meet up, I emotionally vomit on her. Thankfully she’s happy to listen.

On our way out, we passed this Christmas display. How cool is it?! No pun intended.

I think it might be time to risk the annual hernia and bring the tree in from the garage…

Dragonflies

I met up with one of my wise women today for coffee, cake and lots of chats. It always fills me with joy. I’m very grateful to have so many people I can turn to when I need support, advice or just to be listened to. We all need that.

I wasn’t in the best of places last time I saw her. I’ve worked through a lot since then and she was thrilled to see the sparkle back in my eyes.

Saw these and I couldn’t resist them. I love dragonflies. These feel like grown up mugs if that makes sense. I am a big fan of a mug.

Another church

Headed over to Hemblington today to meet up with a very wise woman for a walk and talk. Makes a change for me to do the talking on one of these.

I had no idea Hemblington was so pretty. I’ve seen the signpost, but not checked it out. The church is so pretty too. Tiny. It was open so we looked inside.

Then we sat in the graveyard on the bench and put the world to rights. She helped clear a few things in my head. The past few weeks have been curveball after curveball. I’ve felt a little punch drunk with it all if I’m honest.

Being sat in the sunshine and out in nature helped too. I think I must have been a plant in a former life…

Wise woman

Finally I was able to get over to Anna’s to hack out with her and Alfie. It’s been months. In fact the last time we hacked together was Halloween!

It was wonderful to catch up. We didn’t stop talking the whole way round. There was a lot to catch up on.

And I got to have cuddles with her new puppy! Talk about cherry on top.
