Welcome to blog! I started it in 2020 to chart my recovery from breaking my ankle (hence the name). I guess no-one saw a global pandemic coming. It's turned into a place where I can talk about the things happening in my life, my horse and my cats. Enjoy!
Took Buddy over for a pony playdate with Blake. After all of the rain, there were lots of puddles. Buddy is a proper water baby. He loves stomping through them. Blake, on the other hand, isn’t a fan. But after watching Buddy splash through them, he took the plunge himself!
He was so pleased with himself afterwards he had a proper swagger on. Buddy wasn’t sure what all the fuss was about. He was too busy trying apple bobbing in the puddle and hoover the verge.
Thought I’d put some oil in the Buddymobile yesterday. Always good to check your oil and water from time to time (she says like she knows what that really means).
It should have been a very simple job. Take off the oil cap, pour in oil, return oil cap. Right?! Wrong! This is me. This is the Buddymobile. I couldn’t get the oil cap off. I tried and tried, but it wasn’t shifting. I even enlisted a man to assist. No joy there either.
So today I took it to the local garage. After 10 mins fighting and lots of tools, it came off. In pieces. So new oils cap ordered. Till it arrives, I won’t be going far with my temporary cap. But at least the oil is in. And it wasn’t that I was being inept (for once).
Got back to the yard to be told that I’ve got a headlight bulb on the way out too. At least that should be easy to fix.
I do love the Buddymobile. Even if he’s a bit quirky sometimes. Then again, Buddy and I both have our quirks. So perfect really!
The Buddymobile is back after having a lot of work done on it. One of the rear wheel arches needed replacing. Sounds like a simple job. Right?! This is me, so of course not!
It was bad. First I knew was when a bit fell off. Never a good thing!!
It seems that the wheel arch has been an issue for a while. Water had been coming into one of my side lockers, as well as hitting the living floor. As a result, there was a lot of rotten wood that needed to be replaced. Good job I didn’t go through it. Or my bed collapse overnight.
So I have a rebuilt wheel arch and new floor in the locker and living. Need to get some replacement lino to complete it.
It will need to go back at some point to have the other rear wheel arch done.
I did get an upgrade while it was being done. A new step to make getting in and out a bit easier. Made good use of that as I was giving it a deep clean this evening.
This has been making me giggle today. Well last week, it was weirding me out if I’m honest. For some reason, it’s started randomly bubbling. So much so that I joked it was possessed.
I get it bubbles when someone uses it, but when it starts bubbling when no-one’s been near it, it’s a bit odd.
This week, the volume of the bubbling had gone up and up. It’s been making us laugh as it’s not only loud, it goes on for a long time. Definitely overplaying it’s part. It’s been a talking point for sure.
So water has featured heavily in my day today. Starting with this unfortunate little boy.
Next door’s cat decided to come in for some food. Dodo was super brave and saw him off. Cue cat fight and fluff everywhere in the garden. Sadly Dodo came off worse as he fell in the pond. And I mean completely under! Then came tearing into the house.
Cue me trapping him in the bathroom, trying to dry him off and clearing up the water that was all over my carpets!
Then Anglian Water arrived to swap my meter over. Not the best start as he opened with ‘you won’t know I’m coming today’. Followed by ‘where is your water meter?’
Cue me out in my fluffy Mr Tumnus trousers in the bushes looking for it. It’s not in the easiest place to find. Poor bloke looked rather disheartened when he saw where it was. Still all sorted now.
Finally I kindly put some warm water in a bucket for Buddy to drink as the water is very cold at the moment. He knocked the bucket out of my hands and soaked my legs and feet.
Is this my payback for trying to fix my leaky roof?!
I was recently recommended to try coconut water as it’s good for natural hydration. I’ve been trying to remember to take my electrolytes but it’s a bit hit and miss.
What’s also a bit hit and miss is my ability to tolerate coconut. I’m good with a Bounty, but not dried coconut, milk or cream. So I was a bit apprehensive about trying it.
Thought I’d be brave. Again, it was a bit hit and miss. I wasn’t affected by it. I just didn’t like the taste. It doesn’t taste like coconut. In fact, I’m not sure what it tasted like.
The only way I could drink it was to water it down significantly. Guess it’s one way to hydrate!
In amongst the doom and gloom of the world right now, this was a lovely surprise. My water bill arrived and I’m in credit!! I kinda felt I was over paying when my DD doubled last year. Now it’s less than it was in 2019. I’ll take that with everything else going up!!
I’ve had another day of resting as I’m still feeling heady and snotty. So much better than yesterday so fingers crossed it’s on its way out.
