Cotoneaster cull

Thought I’d have a quiet day today. Well quiet for me. I needed to pick up a new horsey washing machine, so the Buddymobile got a run out. As he was at home, I thought I’d take advantage of the extra space to clear my garden. I’ve been wanting to have a cull of the cotoneaster at the front of my house for ages.

It had gotten a bit out of hand if I’m honest. I’ve tried to keep on top of it. But it was beyond rescuing. So it was time to go.

My little chainsaw made short work of it. Getting it in the garden bag was a more interesting challenge. Still got there in the end.

With the Buddymobile suitable filled, I thought I’d better check what time the recycling centre closed. Annoyingly I’d missed it by 15 mins.

So I headed back to the yard to walk Buddy over some poles. And put the windows up on the Comedy Car. Not sure if it was going to rain, but better safe than sorry.

The Buddymobile is now pine-scented from the old hedge branches I cut off a while ago. Who needs an air freshener?!

I’m going to plant Agatha in the space. I love roses and think it’ll like quite fetching there. The rest of the cotoneaster can have a stay of execution. I ran out of garden bags (and steam).

It’s amazing what a difference it makes. And how much lighter my living room is!

Bosch

End of an era Chez Langley. This washing machine has served me well. But things don’t last forever. I inherited it when I moved in over 10 years ago. I had no idea how old it was then! So it owes me nothing.

Like us as we age, it started having bladder issues and I’ve found a few accidents. The irony being that once I’d used a few tea towels to mop up the puddles, I needed to wash them.

That and it’s been prime drying weather these past few days.

So I started looking for a new one. It must be a good 18 years since I bought a new washing machine. Things have moved on massively. The bewildering array of functions is slightly overwhelming. As are some of the prices! For the money, I’d want the machine to fold and put the clothes away too.

So I went old school and popped to a shop. Had a good chat with the man there and a new shiny Bosch washing machine is being delivered tomorrow. Bye bye Bosch, I bought a Bosch.

Repair shop

Today has been an odd sort of day. The repair man came to look at my horsey washing machine this morning. Sadly it’s beyond repair. Several metal bits sheared so proper job. 😔 He was amazed it had lasted as long as it had.

So the hunt is on for a replacement. And form a cunning plan to get the old one out of my utility room without the need to remove the door or fridge / freezer. It’s rather compact you see. The utility room, not the washing machine.

This afternoon, I picked up my riding boot as the zip had gone on it. Cracking job done and a bargain too!

So not all bad. The kittens were boycotting the outside world today. Obviously the rain stopped play. Hugo really does make me laugh. He does like to sheep in the weirdest positions.
