Toby

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to the latest addition to the Langley family, Toby. Otherwise knows as the Buddymobile Mark 2!

I’ve been waiting over 3 weeks for his arrival. They say good things are worth waiting for. Let’s hope it’s the case here.

We didn’t get off to the best start as I totally embarrassed myself by inadvertently using the brake instead of the accelerator. No wonder I wasn’t going anywhere.

I did redeem myself as I drove along. Even had another trucker salute me. OK so he was overtaking me, but it still means I’m a trucker. Right?!

I was a bit ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ on the way home. Probably didn’t help I was looking at kilometres and not miles per hour. It’s all learning.

It’s a tad bigger than the current Buddymobile, so it’s going to take a bit of getting used to. So far so good.

And yes, I might have ducked going under the bridge by my house. I know I was going to fit, so why does your brain do that?!?

Now to start working out where our stuff needs to go, reading the manuals (who am I kidding, I’ll probably just wing it) and take Buddy out for a test drive.

Let the adventures begin…

Terminator

We’re back home after another epic training camp. Epic in so many ways. Bert’s first camp and to be honest, he totally aced it! He waited patiently while I went for my lessons. He made himself comfortable in the Buddymobile. He slept through every night. He had zoomies in the forest and played nicely with the other dogs.

Every time I left him, I told him ‘I’ll be back’. I’m no Arnie, but it did make me giggle. Just call me Terminator.

Buddy aced camp too. Six lessons, massive lightbulbs and huge leaps forward in our training. He feels stronger, straighter and much more rideable since his injury.

The only ‘downside’ was the heat! Talk about from the sublime to the ridiculous. Last year, I didn’t take enough layers. It chucked it down and was freezing. This year, it was like someone had left the oven on…

Very draining for us all. We coped with a heady mix of fluids and electrolytes. I am very tired now. We shall all sleep well tonight.

Long wait

The last time this happened was nearly 6 years ago. And we were both riding different horses. It was worth the wait though. Lovely hack out with Colette and Sky today.

It was very, very windy. My new coat passed with flying colours (flying was right at points as everything was flapping in the wind). I was very toasty indeed. Thankfully we missed the rain too.
