Rear view

Well I haven’t seen this view for a long time!

It’s been a really weird weather day. Showers and sunshine were the order of the day. Wasn’t sure if I’d have time to ride without getting soaked. So I decided to long-rein / double lunge Buddy instead.

We haven’t done this for a while, so I wasn’t sure how it would go. Pleased to report we had a lot of fun and no tangles.

Sanatorium

So today saw the return of Pip’s Sanatorium as I woke up full of cold and feeling decidedly crappy. Not a clue where it’s come from but it’s not Covid. That would be very unfortunate for me to get it twice.

My plans for showjumping had to be scrapped and I retreated back to bed.

Thankfully the weather was glorious so it was kinda nice to sit in the sunshine. Feeling like I’ve been punched repeatedly in the face right now. Not that I’d know what that feels like. This is what I’d imagine it feels like anyway.

Hoping that more sleep will mean it goes as quickly as it arrives. It’s been ages since I was sick. Still not a fan…

Numbers game

Day 1 of camp down and lots to report. Two brilliant lessons (poles this morning and course jumping this afternoon). One new saddle pad (it was on sale!!). And zero falls. Now that’s what I call a very good day.

Weather-wise it was a game of two halves. This morning was awful with heavy showers. This afternoon saw glorious sunshine.

Round 2 of Newmarket Salt therapy was good too. Buddy spent more time by the nozzle this time. He seems so chilled out with life today.

Fingers crossed he stays like that tomorrow when we head out to XC.

Among the fields of barley

Yes I did sing the song. It’s been a week since we last hacked out and so much has changed. The barley is golden brown and the maize has tripled in size. It’ll soon be taller than us (and full of monsters no doubt).

It was still really hot even though we didn’t head out till after 6pm. After a busy day, it was just what I needed. It’s hard not to smile. Stunning vistas made better through Buddy’s ears.

All weathers

Buddy and I are off to camp tomorrow. Being a good equestrian, I’ve check 4 weather apps for the week.

So far I’ve packed everything from shorts & t-shirts to waterproofs and fleeces.

July you say. Summer you say. Four seasons in one day you say. 🤪 Bring it on….

Evening sun

This evening I decided to lunge Buddy in his field. It was such a lovely evening. He was a little bit confused to start off with. Soon got the idea. He’s looking so well and shiny at the moment. It’s lovely to see.

Now on the sofa watching the England match.

Bank holiday outing

Fab day out at Houghton Hall today for the unaffiliated Eventing. It couldn’t have been a more glorious day. It was great to catch up with lots of people. As well as watching the Eventing of course.

Definitely felt inspired. One day we might make it there to compete ourselves. It’s a stunning location and the XC course looked like a lot of fun.

Oh and I may have bought myself a new gillet. Well it was my birthday yesterday. And a girl simply can’t have enough, right?!

I nearly caused a bit of an issue though. Stopped to pet one of the jump judge’s dog. Somehow it got caught under a table, lost the plot, slipped its lead and ran off. Thankfully we caught it and I was able to return it unharmed.

Only me, huh?!

Happy place

This feeds my soul more than anything else. Me and my boy out for an afternoon stroll. Everywhere looks so lush and green. It was great to feel the sun on our backs too.

Hardly a soul out either. Sheer bliss!

Gave him his first full bath of the year too. His mane was disgusting. Buddy made his feelings known on the situation by standing on the shampoo bottle. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So we now have a very clean yard floor. 🤪
