Layer on, later off

I saw this quote and it seemed quite apt for today. I’ve been like some sort of equestrian Karate Kid today. Layer on, layer off, layer on, layer off.

Throw the wind into the mix and it was a bit of a challenge getting the wheelbarrow to the muck heap without the contents blowing off. So then it was sweep the yard, sweep the yard, sweep the yard, sweep the yard.

Wordsworth

I love it when the daffodils appear at the yard. They seem to pop up overnight. It may have been cold today but Spring is definitely in the air.

I love Daffodils. They’re such cheery flowers. They also remind me of Wordsworth. I studied his poem when I did my A-levels:

‘I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.’

I was going to call my dog Wordsworth but I ended up with a Shelley instead. Well one poet for another.

Snowdrops

This is a sight that makes my heart sing. Or should that be spring? It’s definitely round the corner

I love it when the bulbs start coming up. It reminds me that nature will out. I know I’ve lost a few bits in the garden after the false Autumn and hard frosts. Things got very confused (as did I!)! It’ll be interesting to see what comes back.

The only downside is that it means I really, really need to get out in the garden and start tidying up. I need a few more hours in the day at the moment. Thankfully the nights are drawing out so I will get my wish soon.

Layers

Today I went out for hack fearing I’d overlayered. There was some warmth in the sun and it felt very Spring-like indeed.

Halfway round, the sun disappeared and I was very grateful of my extra layers. It felt very Wintery again.

At least we didn’t see any April Showers.

Blooming marvellous

It’s felt very Spring-like today. I was tempted to hang the laundry on the line, it was that nice. I started the day with a bit of Spring cleaning too. Always feels good.

Spotted this beauty in the border. Think it’s a hellibore, but not totally sure. Whatever it is, it’s a stunner.

Reboot

Oh how I’ve missed this view. The world really does look a better place through a horse’s ears. I think you could probably see my smile from space it was that big.

And what a day for it too. Felt like Spring was in the air for sure. I had to pinch myself that it’s still only February.

Snow again?!

Is Winter mad at us?! Or did we upset Spring?! The weather is as odd as I felt yesterday. I can’t say I feel 100% but definitely better than I was.

I looked out the window earlier and the snow / hail was swirling around. Is that what it’s like to be in a snow globe?! Amazing the thoughts that pop into your head sometimes.

Perfect blooms

This sight always makes me smile. It signals that Spring is in the air. The blooms are so perfect and vibrant. They almost look painted.

This year they seem to have more white in them than in previous years. Didn’t know that could happen. Not complaining as they look stunning.

Snowdrops

These made me smile so much today. I love it when the snowdrops come out. Spring is definitely on the way. I’ve got crocuses and tulips popping up too.

Spring is my favourite season by far. I love the hope and optimism of it. Mother Nature is waking up and preparing to bloom!
