Timing

They say trust the timing of your life. Well I’m having trust issues with mine today.

This morning, I went to sit on the sofa arm. Totally mistimed it and ended up on falling backwards onto the floor. Landed on my hand and jarred myself. Bert was most concerned.

Then we went out for our walk. Mistimed it so ended up getting caught in a shower. Was resigning myself to yet another soaking, when I remembered there is one of those emergency hoods on my coat.

Except it was too big for my head as it’s designed to go over a riding hat. So kept blowing off. Have you ever tried to pick up dog poo while holding a lead, stopping your hood blowing down and trying not to slide over in the mud. Thankfully I ended up laughing at my situation. And didn’t faceplant.

Then I headed to the yard, just as the heaven’s opened again. So got my timing wrong there.

Finally I forgot to put the timer on for my dinner so managed to burnt it.

Let’s hope my timing is better tomorrow…

Vineyard

I took Bert out for a little bit of a longer walk this morning. We took the footpath that runs through the vineyard behind where I live. I watched them planting it and it’s been interesting watching the vines grow.

You can volunteer there to help keep the vines weed free, pick the grapes when they’re ready and other jobs. They reward you with wine. Not that they’ve produced any yet. I really wish them well. Wonder what Norfolk wine will be like?!

The footpath then heads across a field. What I hadn’t realised was that it had been freshly muck spread! Bert LOVED the cow muck. A little bit too much if I’m honest. He definitely needed a shower when we got home!!

He’s teething, having a growth spurt and awash with hormones. 18 weeks is tough for him. And my hands as the land shark is back. It’s really hard as I can see he’s uncomfortable. Doing what I can to help him. Lots of cuddles, frozen carrots and extra food. Maybe I need to start volunteering at the vineyard….

Siblings

Bert met up with his two sisters today. He was meant to meet up with some of his brothers too, but sadly that didn’t happen. To be honest, three Sprockers was enough!

He met his match in Olive. It was so funny watching them roughhouse and tear round the dog field. Tilly was a bit more reserved to start off with. But soon came out of her shell and joined in the fun.

They were having a lot of fun going through the tunnels they have there. That’s where Olive met her match as she wasn’t a fan. Bert and Tilly were loving it!

Bert slept the whole way back. And again after his much needed shower. He was rather muddy! In fact, he’s spent most of evening asleep too! He was one tired puppy…

Wonderment

Well it’s the first day of 2025 and to be honest it’s been a pretty nothing day. I really wasn’t feeling the whole NYE thang, so I was in bed by 10:30pm.

Of course, I was woken up by the fireworks at midnight. That and the howling winds. Why would people want to let off fireworks when it’s so stormy?! Seems a bit of a waste but there you go.

The storm continued today. With the added bonus of hail as I was mucking out. Bert was doing his best Dumbo impression with his ears flapping in the wind. Not sure he was that enamoured with walking in the driving rain.

He did throughly enjoy his hot shower when he got home. As did I. Not together, I’d like to point out.

We had a pretty chilled one. Rounded off with the Christmas tradition that is World’s Strongest Man. Well I didn’t attempt the annual ‘Christmas tree’ carry, so might as well watch the professionals. It’s the little things…

Clean

Today I set myself a goal – to have a shower. And if I had energy, to strip my bed. The joys of being ill, huh?! You have to set goals that would rarely be a goal under normal conditions.

But that’s where I am right now. Boy does it feel so good to be clean again! And I stripped the bed, remade it and washed the dirty bedding. So definitely smashed those goals.

Still feeling grotty, but so much better than I was.
