Settle

Bert has his first trip to the roses place today. I met up with a couple of friends for a late lunch. I hadn’t realised that dogs were allowed. Guess I hadn’t needed to before.

They had dog rules. One of which was that all 4 paws had to be on the floor. Bert broke that one by jumping on my chair while I went to order. Whoops!

He’s becoming quite the pro at ‘settle’. I brought a ‘body part’ with me. That helped. He happily chomped away on it while we chatted.

Roses are red

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I realised I have 4 boys in my life and I didn’t get a single card… I’m sure they love me (and not just cause I feed them).

I was peopling this morning. The other receptionist had bought these beautiful roses to brighten the clinic. I put on a ‘timeless romantic songs’ playlist. Gosh there were some classics on there. And lots I hadn’t heard for a while.

I did get some ‘presents’. Buddy gave me an exceptionally filthy stable to muck out. Bert brought me an old piece of rope on our walk. And the kittens left a trail of muddy paw prints all over my bed. Who says romance is dead?!

Love thy neighbour

I had some errands to run today so Bert came to ride shotgun. As I opened my front door, I found these beautiful roses on my doorstep.

They are from my lovely neighbours, Jo and Maurice. There was a note to say that they knew I’d been having a tough time recently and hoped these would make me smile. They certainly did!

I’m so lucky to have such lovely neighbours. They keep an eye on me and have done so many lovely things for me over the years.

Rose to the occasion

Took my friend Colette over to Peter Beales Roses for her birthday outing. We had a lovely lunch, then wandered round the garden and garden centre.

It was a bit chilly, but we managed to avoid the showers. Lots of the roses may have gone over, but there was still a lot to see.

As a child, I was brought up with birthday outings. I’m so glad that I can continue this tradition with my friends too.

Smell the roses

I had my first birthday outing today. My friend Anni took me for lunch at Peter Beales Roses. Not sure either of us thought we’d be there over 3 hours wandering round the gardens and smelling the roses. My goodness, there were some heavenly smelling ones.

The time flew by and we could have stayed for longer. Came away with my birthday present too – 2 beautiful clematis.
