Home again

Do you think they missed me?! The kittens and I are snuggled up on the sofa together. It’s good to be home. I missed them while I’ve been away.

I swung by the yard on my way home to see Buddy. He seemed more interested in his hay than me. I must be in the bad books. Either that or he thinks he’s retired. He’ll get a shock tomorrow when I go back and ride him.

Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight.

Rescue mission

This poor little chap somehow managed to get trapped in my greenhouse today. Poor thing couldn’t work out how to get out and was flapping about. The kittens were rather interested in it all – thankfully they couldn’t get in.

After a lot more flapping and me ushering it towards the door, off it flew. Not a clue what type of bird it is, but hope it stays safe.

Fed up

Today had been one of those day where I’ve been fed up. Not because anything major has happened. Just because. Fed up with the weather. Fed up with the restrictions. Fed up of being on my own. Fed up of not being able to do the things I love. Fed up of not being able to see the people I love. Fed up of not getting work. Fed up of feeling useless. Just fed up.

BUT it’s OK to feel like this. Lockdown Limbo is draining and gets us all down from time to time. As they say ‘we’re all in the same storm, but different boats’. Today I’m feeling fed up, battered and a tad seasick.

I’m not after sympathy. I know it will pass. And it’s not all bad at all. I’m very lucky in so many aspects of my life. I have a lovely house, 3 gorgeous cats, a handsome horse and so many wonderful people in my life. Just some days are harder than others.

Watching the kittens play in the snow did make me giggle. Love their footprints on the conservatory steps. You can tell which are Nero’s too.

And my parents had their Covid vaccination today. Roll on a brighter future for us all.

Camo kitten

I couldn’t find Dodo today so thought he must have gone out. Given how windy it was, I was a bit surprised. Then I spotted him curled up on his fishing the carpet. I must have walked past him. 🤦🏻‍♀️

In my defence, I was a bit crosseyed after a day of study.

Cat flap training

So this week has been mostly about cat flap training with the kittens. I’ve got them used to coming and going by tying it open for a weeks. Now it’s time to introduce the actual flap. It’s so interesting to see their different approaches.

Dodo is very precise and measured. He’s adopted the paws, nose, squeeze through technique. It’s slower but very effective.

Hugo, on the other hand, has gone for the brute force approach. He has the focus of an Olympic long jumper as he stares the flap down. He rocks back and forth picking his moment to launch. You can practically seeing him psyching himself up. He then launched his entire body at the flap!!

It’s definitely a very interesting technique. Sadly his timing isn’t always spot on, so he has bounced off a few times.

I know I shouldn’t laugh…..
