Chatty (Wo)man

Well that was a VERY long day! But an utterly brilliant one. A full day of commentating and XC control at the RC ODE at Poplar Park. First horse went off at 10:20am. The last came back at 6:20pm!

Thankfully I was able to pronounce most of the horse and rider’s names this time. Even got a few thumbs up from riders so must have gotten pretty near. Manage to keep everyone updated with progress throughout their day.

Got a lot of comments on how professional it sounded too. So if anyone knows of anymore opportunities…

As the saying goes ‘I counted them out and I counted them all back’. And there were no falls!!

Well done everyone! Same again next year…?

Variety

Day 268: variety. I was watching some training today that talked about the 6 human needs. Variety was one. It got me thinking. I definitely need variety in my life. I get bored when things are the same. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a comfort in routine. Covid and lockdown have shown me how I need a bit of both.

So I have created a routine that works for me. I get up. I ground myself with a coffee (not literally) and contemplate the day. Then I crack on.

I need variety in my work, my life and most importantly with Buddy. I’m very grateful I’m getting that.

B&B

Arrived safe and sound in preparation for our 3 day training camp. Took much longer than expected due to roadworks and my rather foolish plan to try and circumnavigate them. Would have been quicker to have stayed in the queue. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Still we’re all settled in for the night. Buddy seems to love B&B. Not sure if that’s just cause he gets haylage?!

Looking forward to learning lots in our 6 lessons. Bring it on…

New views

Today Buddy and I headed over somewhere new. We went over to hack with some new people. We had such a fab time. Boy was it hot! Wearing black jodhpurs wasn’t my best idea. Talk about hot thighs!

We really are so lucky to have such beautiful scenery. And such wonderful horses.

Happy place

This feeds my soul more than anything else. Me and my boy out for an afternoon stroll. Everywhere looks so lush and green. It was great to feel the sun on our backs too.

Hardly a soul out either. Sheer bliss!

Gave him his first full bath of the year too. His mane was disgusting. Buddy made his feelings known on the situation by standing on the shampoo bottle. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So we now have a very clean yard floor. 🤪

Birthday treats

They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Seems it’s true with horses too. Buddy loves cow parsley, so I picked him a bunch as a birthday treat. I failed miserably on the present stakes yesterday. Good job he’s the forgiving type. I think he enjoyed it, he practically inhaled it!!

Storm clouds

That moment when you can’t work out if the rain is coming towards you or going to head past. Sadly it was the former. Another hack, another soaking. ☔️🤦🏻‍♀️

Buddy wasn’t impressed with the rain down ear look. Have to say I agreed with him there! It’s May for crying out loud. I couldn’t feel my thighs or hands by the time I got back.

So glad I watered all of the plants that I planted out today… Still it was a very good Sunday.
