Amazing

Today was a bit of a self-care day. With a lot of tidying, cleaning and general decluttering going on. Well that was the plan. Kinda feel like I moved stuff around the house or into the garage.

Now the garage needs a good tidy!! That’s on the list too.

Took Buddy out for a long hack this afternoon. The maize has grown even taller. It was windy so it makes quite a noise. I know I say it a lot, but I do love where I live.

I mean, just look at that view…

Maize monsters

Buddy was convinced there were monsters in the maize tonight. It’s shot up so is now over our heads! The wind probably didn’t help as it was rustling rather loudly.

His little ears were going like radar dishes. Thankfully no monsters. And he quite likes eating the leaves.

He much prefers walking past the sugar beet. Such a stunning view.

Beautifying

After being away last weekend and a busy week, I needed some Buddy time. Took him out for a long hack this afternoon. Being out in nature with my boy feeds my soul more than anything else. I know I’ve said it before, but I really do live in a beautiful part of the world.

I did my best to make my tiny bit of the world beautiful too. I spent most of the day in the garden. I mowed both lawns. They’d both gone a bit bonkers with all the rain. It was tough going, but always looks so much better when it’s done.

Show time

It’s been a long time since I was in the show ring. 2 years probably. It was good to have the smell of showshine in my nostrils again. To cheer my charges on. And bask in their performances.

It was the Norfolk Equestrian Show. Felt a bit odd being back at the show ground. It felt tiny without all the hustle and bustle of the normal show. Still it was lovely to be back with the horses.

I borrowed a hat for my grooming duties. I may look like a Victorian Orphan, but I think it really suits me. The owner did too, so she gave it to me. Great day out!

Cleavers

It was bathtime for Buddy today. It’s been so hot, I thought it would be a nice change for him.

Took him for a graze while he dried off. He found a pile of cleavers (or the sticky plant to you and me). He went mad for them.

We were talking about them last week at camp. That’s when I found out they were called cleavers. Love a new fact!

Among the fields of barley

Yes I did sing the song. It’s been a week since we last hacked out and so much has changed. The barley is golden brown and the maize has tripled in size. It’ll soon be taller than us (and full of monsters no doubt).

It was still really hot even though we didn’t head out till after 6pm. After a busy day, it was just what I needed. It’s hard not to smile. Stunning vistas made better through Buddy’s ears.

Wise woman

Finally I was able to get over to Anna’s to hack out with her and Alfie. It’s been months. In fact the last time we hacked together was Halloween!

It was wonderful to catch up. We didn’t stop talking the whole way round. There was a lot to catch up on.

And I got to have cuddles with her new puppy! Talk about cherry on top.

Playtime

When I got to the yard, someone had set out some working equitation style obstacles. So I thought it would be fun to have a play.

It was brilliant fun. Buddy had to focus and listen to me as we twisted and turned our way around it all.

Processing

Today I’m better than I was. My brain isn’t working very well. I’m exhausted from the crying.

Nero was such a big part of my life for so many years. It’s going to take time to get used to him not being here.

I knew it was coming. Doesn’t make it easier though.

I did a great healing meditation earlier. Then took Buddy out for a hack. And had a blast up the gallops on Buddy.

That helped. Put a huge smile on my face.
