Camellia

This is such a welcome sign to me. Spring is on the way when my camellia starts to pop. Always makes me smile. It’s smothered in buds, so hoping for a good show.

It’s funny how we use flowers as indicators of the seasons. The minute the snowdrops arrive, I know we’ve broken the back of winter.

Not that I’m wishing my life away of course. There was lots of holiday talk at the Chiro’s today. I joked that others are jetting off to exotic climes and I get to look at the National Geographic magazines.

My turn will come again I’m sure. I’ve been very fortunate to have travelled a lot in my life. I can feel the Wanderlust stirring.

At least I know I’ve got a few horsey holidays in the diary. They’re like a relaxing holiday, only with more sweating. And I’m not just talking about Buddy.

Holiday blues

This is the face of a horse who isn’t impressed with the fact that his Christmas holiday is over. He’s had over two weeks off. We’ve done a lot in 2023, so I thought he deserved a bit of a break.

I was expecting a few fireworks after his time off. Buddy had other ideas. He seemed most put out that he had to work.

He was very pleased to see me though. And I was very pleased to see him.

Camp not camper

Headed over to Forest Edge today to catch up with the last BHS campers of 2023. I’ve done three of the four camps but decided to sit this one out.

It was lovely to catch up with everyone. And very different being at camp without a horse. Today is an exciting day as the dates for next year’s camps were released. They’re already in my diary. Along with an alarm on the day the bookings open.

Camps are my happy place. Closet I get to a holiday. Time away with like-minded people, learning lots and bonding with Buddy. And I get fed. A lot. There’s really no downside.

Away in a manger

You know you’re pretty special when your amazing friends build you a stable so that your horse can come to stay for Christmas.

Buddy is loving his festive stay away. We’ve arrived and ridden in their arena. Buddy thought he was having a holiday. He got a workout instead.

So excited for our holiday. Christmas has officially started.

Flip flop fail

Today is a sad day. My favourite flip flops broke. I’ve had them so long that I can’t really remember where I bought them. It was on a holiday I’m sure. But since then they’ve been my chosen footwear round the house each Summer. They’ve been on holiday with me. They’ve been to camps too.

I might try and fix them but I fear I may have to bin them and break in some new ones.

I wonder how many miles they’ve covered. I’ve definitely got my money’s worth from them.
