Club helper

Bert did his bit for Carleton Riding Club today. He helped us sort out the jumps we have stored at a local venue. We marked them too so it’s clear which ones are ours.

He was very helpful and definitely didn’t get himself wrapped round them. Or round a table. Or chair. He started ‘free range’ but a pony came into the arena, so he went back on the long line. Then became a bit of a trip hazard…

We’re all volunteers on the club Committee. We give our time willingly to support the club we love. It supports many people to do the things they love as well. All we ask is that our members do a little bit of volunteering too. Think Bert is setting a very good example already.

I’m looking forward to our next clinic where Buddy will be the one jumping them.

Surprise surprise

I did my best ‘Cilla’ impression this evening. I headed over to Forest Edge to surprise and catch up with the campers. It ‘Big Camp’. And the first one I’ve missed since I started going in 2016.

Tuesday morning I woke up feeling really sad that I wasn’t going to be there with Buddy and catch up with everyone.

I’d asked if I could be helper for a day instead. As I was coming tomorrow to help, I thought I’d have a night in the Buddymobile too! I know how to live huh?!

Pony clubber

Today I was at the Pony Club Regional Champs being held at Blackwater Farm. Yes I know I’m a bit old for Pony Club. I was there to help the organisers. It mostly involved running around a lot, looking after people and anything else anyone needed. It was a long day, but a lot of fun.

I never had the opportunity to be part of the Pony Club. I didn’t get my first horse till I was in my 20s. It was great seeing so many riders, horses and ponies in action. It was also lovely seeing the camaraderie.

I was only meant to be there today. But I managed to leave my bag behind. So I’ve now got to go back tomorrow for pick it up.
