Wakehurst

I needed to get outdoors today, so I headed over to Wakehurst Place this afternoon. Being outdoors and in nature are good healers for me. With all the emotions and stress of the past few days, I’d usually go for a long ride on Buddy. That’s not an option at the moment. So this was the next best thing.

Wakehurst Place is part of Kew Gardens and the National Trust. My Mum was a lifetime National Trust member, so I borrowed her card. We used to go there together. But I haven’t been for many years.

I walked round the gardens. Then found a bench to sit and reflect. The bench was dedicated with a line from a Wordsworth poem ‘To stay the wanderer’s steps and soothe his thoughts.’ Seemed rather fitting.

I had a chat with a magpie as you do. Before walking up to the highest point. As I sat looking out across the treetops, I couldn’t stop the tears from coming. Luckily there was no-one around.

On my way out, I noticed a plant I recognised. It was a Veronica. My Mum’s favourite. Can’t imagine why?! Guess I’ll be getting one for the garden.

Off games

We were meant to be having a night away. Buddy in a lovely stable. Me in the Buddymobile. Tomorrow we were meant to be demo riders at another CPD Day. Flatwork this time. But someone is off games.

I know flatwork isn’t your favourite, but going lame is a little extreme Buddy. My fab farrier was due today so perfect timing. No obvious signs of an abscess, so hoping a few days rest and a treatment from Auntie Sam will do the trick and we will be back to it.

Honestly, I’m not joking when I say I feel thwarted. I literally get the Buddymobile fixed and now Buddy’s out of action. You couldn’t make it up.

Still Buddy is happy in himself. He’s not hopping lame, but definitely uncomfortable. Hoping he’s just tweaked something dicking about in the field. On the other hand, I’ve had my toddler tantrum and stamped my foot ( I’ll probably be lame tomorrow too).

Sometimes it’s just not your week. All healing vibes gratefully received.

Gongs

Tonight I went to a Sound Bath in Hemsby. I hadn’t got a clue where I was going and ended up having a bit of a detour. Still made it on time. The Sound Bath was held in a yert, on a holiday park. It was really cool, the yert that is. I got to watch the light fad as the gongs played.

After feeling out of sorts for a few days, this was just what I needed. I’ll sleep well tonight. I always do after one.

Leaving to come home, the moon was so bright. It lit the way for me. It’s full at the moment, so could contributing to why I’ve been feeling weird.
