Welcome to blog! I started it in 2020 to chart my recovery from breaking my ankle (hence the name). I guess no-one saw a global pandemic coming. It's turned into a place where I can talk about the things happening in my life, my horse and my cats. Enjoy!
First day of camp done. I was on poos and poles duty. So lovely watching everyone progress throughout the day. Seeing confidence boosted by great instructors.
I did have a couple of moments where I wished it had been us. Especially when the jumps went up. It will be before I know it.
I did get to put my bum in a saddle as I took Archie for a little hack to cool him off after his lesson. He’s such a dude!
I’m back home after a wonderful camp. It wasn’t my best camp, but not my worst either. The weather was a bit of a challenge. Talk about sunshine and showers! And blooming cold!
Sadly Buddy isn’t right. Not sure what the issue is, so going to go through the MOT checklist for him. I’ll get to the bottom of it. Or top depending on where the issue is.
Still I got to watch most of the lessons. And we were able to take part but in walk only. Learnt so much though – even in walk. It’s not something I’ve spent much time working on before. I guess I’ve sort of assumed that a horse can walk. Some of the exercises really made my focus on my position and isolating my seat.
Today I learnt how to halt by clenching my bum. Buddy halted square EVERY TIME! Something I’ve really, really struggled with over the past 7 years with him. I swear it’s witchcraft.
Although this camp wasn’t the success I’d hoped for, it was still wonderful being away. It’s always a joy spending time with likeminded people. And of course my Buddy Boy.
Next camp is booked for June. So I need to get Buddy sound and my lorry water tight. It’s good to have a deadline. Wish me luck!
Well I wasn’t sure if we would get here, but we did. We’re all set for our first training camp of 2024. After the Buddymobile pulling a sicky, then Buddy calling in sick, I was fearing the worst.
But we locked and loaded! Eases Buddy in gently with a stroll round the forest.
It’s a tad fresh so hoping I’ve brought enough layers. Time to snuggle up for the night. Bring on the learning!
What a lovely day at Burnham Market Horse Trails. Caught up with so many people and watched some incredible combinations. Came away feeling very inspired, if a little wind burnt!
Burnham is one of my favourite events. Sadly we’ve lost so many events from the region. Thankfully this one is still in the eventing calendar. Long may that continue…

Flying visit to Suffolk to round off a lovely Easter weekend. Simon and Harry have loads of pooches for me to cuddle. At one point I had three dogs trying to get on my lap. Banys won. But only by sitting on his brother Boris! They’re all so cute.
Bailey is still my favourite. He was very happy to see me as always. There’s something really heartwarming about seeing a pack of happy pooches running towards you.
It’s been a lovely Easter. Full of friends, horses, cats and dogs.
We made it people! Today is the Spring Equinox. I must admit I wasn’t thrilled when I woke up to yet more rain. But it soon passed and turned into an OK day.
After working so many hours, it was a catch up day. Catching up on laundry, housework, admin, friends and most importantly, my Buddy Boy.
He certainly had a spring in his step today. And that puts a smile on my face.
The weather finally got its act together and it felt like Spring is on the way. Buddy and I headed over to Blickling to meet Katie and Archie. For the first time this year!!
It was so wonderful to be back at Blickling. The sun shone for the whole of our 1.5 hour ride. We didn’t stop chatting the whole way round either. Just wonderful.
Yesterday evening I got to catch up with a wonderful friend. Someone I greatly admire and massively appreciate. Someone who’s been through a testing time, but still makes time for me.
Today I was surprised at the yard by another wonderful friend. She brought me flowers and chocolate to make me smile. Again, she’s someone I admire and look up to. I know she’s having a tough time right now. But she rocks up cause she knew I needed a hug.
Tonight I was feed by yet another wonderful friend. Someone I couldn’t have gotten through the last 4 years without. Someone who has helped me more than she will ever know. Even when she’s had her own issues to face.
I consider myself so lucky to be surrounded by people who take the time to check in on me. Even when their own world’s are decidedly shaky. There are too many to name.
Spontaneous trip to Suffolk. Was going to come down tomorrow. But Simon suggested I come down tonight as well. He didn’t need to ask me twice!
Bailey was very happy to see me. So lucky to be greeted with such joy every time I visit.
We may have been slightly invested in Come Dine with Me. Wow, people really have no filters. Karma won as the most opinionated person came last. Made us all laugh.
