Fresh

Knowing I had an afternoon of meetings today, I switched things round and took Buddy out for a long hack this morning. It was so fresh. Almost chilly at times. I know right?! One minute it’s like we’ve moved to the Sahara. The next it’s positively nippy.

I’m not knocking it. It was a wonderful relief after the heat. And I’m sure the animals and competitors at the Norfolk tomorrow will be thankful for it too.

It was so quiet out today. Didn’t see a single soul till we were almost back home. Sheer bliss. After my day of rest (well rest for me), this definitely helped to fill my tank back up too.

Bring on the Show Shine… Groom Extraordinaire is ready for action.

John Wayne

Buddy had his first bath of the year. He needed it after our rather intense lesson. One of us was a tad fresh and one of us had to do a lot of sitting trot. I’ll let you guess who was who.

Let’s just say Buddy was still in XC mode. Now as much as it’s good to have forward, we also need rideability. There’s always a balance to be struck.

Still we got some wonderful trot work by the end of the lesson. I may be walking like John Wayne tomorrow. Definitely found new muscles. There are some times when I wish I could have a bath too. At least the hot shower helped.

Stompy walk

After a very long day in front of the laptop, I desperately needed some fresh air this evening. It was too late to take Buddy out, so I went for a stompy walk instead.

I love a good stompy walk. It clears the head, gets the blood pumping and the heart rate up.

After all of the rain today, it looked so green and smelt so fresh. Since I last walked this route, they’ve made some changes. This field has been planted with something rather different. Couldn’t work out what it was so will keep checking on it.

Still it’s been a very productive day as I got the magazine I’ve been working on over to the designer. Excited to see the artwork soon.
