Fumes

OK so I may have overdone it this weekend. Today I felt grotty again. So tried to have a gentle day. Managed a short ride on Buddy. Typically I picked it when it was raining. Thank goodness for my Equidry. It’s really been a great purchase.

I even wore it to the football tonight. I was slightly worried that I might be a tad pungent, but all good. And I stayed dry and warm.

A rather odd match, but a win is a win. Even odder getting home. First the bridge was closed, so I had to walk round the houses to the next bridge. Then yomped back up the hill. I knew I needed petrol, but wasn’t expecting to have to go to 4 petrol stations before I could get some. Kinda assumed that petrol stations in the city centre would be open. But the first 3 shut at 10pm.

The petrol light was on by the time I arrived at the 4th petrol station. You can imagine my relief. Little bit of a metaphor for my life right now. I do feel a little like I’m running on fumes.

Right now, I’d happily take a week in the Caribbean… A girl can dream huh?!

Burnt tongue

Anyone else’s cats queue up for pizza?! Just mine huh? I was off to Carrow Road tonight to watch Norwich City play. I was running late, so threw a pizza in the oven while I got ready to go.

Believe me there was a lot of debating on layers and coats! As a result, I burnt half the pizza. The other half was like molten lava, so I burnt my tongue and the roof of my mouth.

Once at the game, I thought I get a hot chocolate. Yes, you guessed it, I burnt my mouth. Again. Seriously, I’m 53! You’d thought I’d have learnt by now.

Sadly the hot chocolate was the highlight of the game.

Not cricket

Blimey it’s been hotter than Satan’s armpit today! I thought I’d treat Buddy to a bubble bath this morning. Well you’d think I was trying to kill him from his reaction. Funny boy.

He was not happy at having his mane or tail washed. And tried to trash his new shoes by scrapping the ground in disgust. Still he looked very smart after a tidy up post-bath. And I was very happy to get wet!

He retired to his field. While I retired to the shade with the kittens and a few good podcasts. There are so many crickets in the garden. Found this chap on my car chirping away.

It was a little bit like being on holiday. Sat in the heat, listening to them. Headed indoors to watch England in the football and now the rugby. No cricket though. I’ll leave them outside.

Three Lions

I’m back home after a full on two days at St George’s Park. It’s been so much fun. I’m one of those special people who loves running around like an idiot making sure everything goes smoothly.

It was a great venue too. You can’t help but feel inspired when you’re surrounded by images of legends and so much memorabilia and trophies.

I left Burton-on-Trent later than I’d planned with another Burton on my mind. Today was the funeral of a friend’s partner, Steve Burton. Steve was a lovely bloke so I wanted to be there to show my respect. And support a family who’ve been a great support to me over the years.

St George’s Park

Greetings from St George’s Park. The training ground for the England Football Team. I’m here running a conference tomorrow. It’s fair to say that they’ve fully embraced the England Team branding. The meeting rooms are named after England Legends. We’re in the Sir Bobby Robson ballroom tomorrow.

Today’s been a long day and tomorrow will be longer, but I bloody love my job.

Yellows

For the second Tuesday running I was ‘super sub’ at Carrow Road. And it appears my jinx had well and truly been lifted as it was the second home win with a score of 3-1.

There was a blast from the past too as John Ruddy was in goal. I used to have many a chat with him before the match. I have so many happy memories from behind the scenes. Very lucky indeed. Of course I did have to sweat a lot for them.

Sunday stroll

What a lovely way to start the day. A Sunday stroll round Blickling with Katie and Archie.

Buddy and Archie are so cute together. This morning when I went to get Buddy in, I told him we were going to see Archie and he came trotting over.

It was rather busy on the estate. But I guess it’s the nicest Sunday we’ve had for a while. So many people wanted to say hello to the boys too. Can’t believe we both bumped into people we knew.

Got home to watch Brighton v Liverpool in the FA Cup. Managed to avoid the result. I’m so glad I got to watch it without knowing Brighton had won! So all in all a pretty fab Sunday. And a very good one for this Sussex girl!

New era

Great to be back at Carrow Road today for the FA Cup match against Blackburn.

New manager, same disappointing result. I guess he may need more than one training session to sort them out. 20 corners and not a sniff of a goal. Of well, at least I got to have a pie, hot chocolate and Twix brownie. There have to be some upsides.

And we stayed dry when the heaven’s opened. What’s the old adage? We can now focus on the league…

Lucky at last

My recent record at Carrow Road hasn’t been great. In fact my recent record of watching Norwich hasn’t been great. There have been a lot of loses and not much action. Today I broke my jinx and saw them win.

Wasn’t the best match. But I’ll take a 3-1 win. And Brighton beat Chelsea. So today has been a very good football day.
