Between sizes

Bert had a harness fitting after Puppy College today. He’s outgrown his first one. Hardly a surprise as he got it in December. He’s now 21 weeks old. Still growing like a sprout! He’s gone very long, so his original one was starting to rub behind his shoulders. His tail is almost as long as he is! Sure he’ll grow into it (and his paws).

The harness comes in 3 pieces so it can be tailored to each dog. After a bit of mix and match, we realised he’s between sizes. Bit like his Mother then! So I decided to go for the bigger options knowing he will grow into it.

New harness, means new colour. Doesn’t he look smart in green. He’s definitely a smart boy too. He’s loving Puppy College.

Puzzle pieces

Buddy had a saddle fitting today. It was really interesting to see the difference in him since he’s been on rehab.

The last time he had his saddle checked was before his injury diagnosis. Then the back of his saddle needed attention. This time, his back has come up more and it was the front that needed adjusting.

Shows that the strengthening work I’ve been doing as part of his rehab is working. And all the treatments he’s been receiving.

Speaking of treatments, he also got a massage today. Again, the differences were marked. His muscles are so much softer and mailable.

I can’t help but wonder if these changes show just how much he was compensating for his injury. And if it was grumbling for a while before it really showed itself. Not beating myself up for that. Hindsight is 20/20
for a reason.

The good news is that he’s making great progesss. And I have more information and puzzle pieces. I know he will come back stronger than ever from this.

Muppet brain

Well it appears my brain isn’t firing on all cylinders. Today I managed to wipe all my WhatsApp messages. And last night I forgot to put Buddy’s rug on after I lunged him. I’ve never done that before.

All was forgiven when I arrived for our saddle fitting. Liz was very impressed with how Buddy is looking. He’s gone down a dress size as he’s leaned out more. And muscled up in the right places. Always lovely to hear that your horse looks good.

Buddy felt great in the adjusted saddle. And was very happy to have parsnips afterwards.

I’m hoping that my brain returns to full working order soon. Not sure if it’s the menopause, relaxing or something else. Whatever it is, I’d like my brain back please.
