Pimp my KitKat

This is what happens when you pop to the shop for a bag of salad and have to queue. It’s really is true what they say that you should never go food shopping when you’re hungry.

I’m not a huge chocolate fan, but I love a KitKat. This was very intriguing, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. Of course, by the time I got home, had dinner, faffed about for a bit, I totally forgot about it. So that’ll be a treat for me another day.

It may shock some people that I can have chocolate in the fridge and not eat it. But I’ve just finished the chocolates I was given for Christmas. Let’s see how long these last in the chocolate drawer…

Snout

Bert had a proper treat today. A pig snout! He was so funny with it. He didn’t know what to make of it to start off. He played with it. He barked at it. He threw it about. Eventually he chewed it.

Once he’d gotten the hang of it, he made quick work of it!

I had to go and get him some more food. And a few bags of body parts. I made the man in the shop laugh when I said I was going to browse the body parts section. He said he was going to refer to it as that from now on. I do love a rebrand…

A right pear

This is Buddy’s ‘pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeee’ face. It always makes me smile. Today it was all about pears. He got one, while I ate the other. Of course, he’d finished his by the time I’d taken my second bite.

Then he wanted mine. Soft touch that I am. He got it. I mean, how could I say no to this little face!?!

That and I knew there were more in the feed room. Good job he didn’t! He does love pears.

Amaze

Blimey it’s been a bit rough here with the winds and rain. Buddy and I went out for a bit of a wind-assisted ride. The maize has been battered. It usually stands so tall and proud. So it was very weird seeing great swathes of it crushed. It was like a giant toddler had tried to make crop circles. Very odd indeed.

Clearly didn’t affect the taste as Buddy grabbed a few snacks on the way round. Eery but lovely way to end the day.

Quiche

I jokingly asked if I could have a doggy bag when I left camp yesterday. They said yes! So I was dispatched with four pieces of quiche for the road.

Arrived home with three. I have to admit that there are easier things to eat while driving. I had two for my dinner tonight. One more piece for lunch tomorrow. I do love quiche. Especially homemade ones. This was mushroom and peppers. Yum!

It always reminds me of my childhood. My Mum is a big fan. My Dad not so much. He used to joke that men didn’t eat quiche. Well this one was made by an Army one at that!

Porker

One of the glorious things about camp is that I get fed three times a day! This isn’t common place in my world. I know people find it weird that I can forget to eat. But I honestly do!

Seems I make up for it at camp when I practically inhale food! Same can be said for Buddy. He’s loving stuffing his face with haylage.

Good job we’re burning a few calories too. Thought today I shivered a lot off! I was very cold last night. I’ve got an extra duvet for tonight. Today the temperature dropped while I was watching lessons. I had to break out the woolly hat!!

Good job I packed for every eventuality. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. And all that!

Festivities

And so it begins. The now traditional ‘eat my body weight in finger food’ has started in earnest.

I appreciate that my body weight isn’t that much in the grand scheme of things, but I do my best. I love finger food. Well I love anyone who feeds me. But that’s another story.

With the big day tomorrow, I hope you all enjoy the festivities. Whatever it means to you. Whatever your traditions are.

Christmas isn’t my favourite time of the year for so many reasons. But again, I do my best. So let’s raise a glass to doing your best!

Oasis

I had breakfast and lunch al fresco today. My garden is usually a little oasis of calm. I love sitting listening to the birds.

Not today. Today there was a lot of noise. Seemed everyone was using the nice weather to get out in the garden too. There was a cacophony of lawnmowers, power tools and even a chainsaw!

If you can’t beat them, join them eh! I resisted the urge to join the noise. But went and did some tidying in the borders instead. The ivy had gotten a little out of hand on the back fence. So it needed a good cull. Still got a way to go with it though. It’s looking much better though already.

Unsettled

I’ve felt very unsettled today. And quite emotional. I know what’s going on so that’s good. I’m working through some deep rooted stuff. Always exhausting. So I did what I always do when I don’t know what to do. I went to see Buddy and took him out for a hack.

That was after I put the magazine I’ve been working on to bed. A phrase I love on many levels. I think it’s so cute that it goes to bed. Not a clue where it comes from. Probably something to do with the old printing presses having beds where the typeset sat. Anyway it always makes me smile. As does finishing the magazine.

Buddy may have bitten off more than he could chew on our hack today. Even when I’m feeling low and emotional, he lifts my mood and makes me laugh. Although he did look like a redneck with cleaver hanging from his mouth.
