Working boy

Super sub was called into action today. The receptionist at the Chiro’s has been poorly, so I went in to cover the desk for her. I didn’t want to leave Bert that long, so he came with me. His first day’s work.

He was a really good boy. There’s a treatment room at the back where one of the other therapists brings her dog in. So was already set up. Bert got lots of visits and a few visitors. Bless him.

He waited patiently in the car afterwards while I got the results of my recent health check. Gold star to me it seems. The nurse was very surprised at how good my results were. For my age. That does make me laugh. She said whatever I’m doing, keep doing it!

Apparently I’m very low risk for diabetes, heart attack or stroke. Can’t say I understand it. But there were lots of positives judging by how excited the nurse was about my results. She said I’m one of the rare ones.

Bert’s crashed out now. Tough gig this working lark. And yes, he got his pay in treats of course.

Super sub

Today was my last shift covering at the Chiro’s. It’s been great fun peopling over the past few weeks. I’ve caught up with so many people. Met so many new ones too.

This cartoon made me giggle. Don’t get me wrong, technology is amazing. I spend a lot of time using it. But I still prefer a good old fashioned chat. And I’ve done a lot of chatting. Hard to believe I know, I’m such a reserved sort…

Cover up

Today I have been mostly avoiding the sunshine. I am a tad pink in places from yesterday. Very pink in others. Seriously, you’d have thought I would have gotten the hang of suncream by now.

The backs of my legs are the worst bit. Guess they don’t see the sun much. They’re a little reminiscent of lobster legs right now.

I’ll live. And you’d like to think I’ve learned a valuable life lesson. Here’s hoping.

In the meantime, it’s lots of aloe vera, water and paracetamol. Oh and baggy trousers. And yes I’m now singing that song.

Well that’s the first camp of 2023 done! And what a cracking camp it was. I’m shattered, but a really good shattered. Buddy still had energy to run round his field.

Maybe he had a sleep on the way back. It’s not like he didn’t do lots today. This morning it was course jumping. We got to practice dog legs too.

Sadly one of the ladies in our group had a fall, so we left the arena early. I’d untacked Buddy when I got a call telling me to go back in the arena to ride the entire course. I’d missed out as I was last to go, after the lady who fell.

Very quick tack up and back we headed. Buddy was a little confused. It’s a good job we’re used to competing. Quick warm up and off we went round the course.

After lunch, we had our final flat work lesson. This time it was no stirrups – in walk, trot and canter! Then canter serpentines with simple changes. Finally we had a go at flying changes. It’s amazing how far we’ve come with our flat work. Shows that hard work pays off.

All in all a very successful camp. I came way with more knowledge, exercises to try and a photo!

Now we know I love a photo. But I bloody LOVE this photo. Wonderful thing is that I didn’t know she was taking it. The photos from our shoot are just stunning.

But that’s for another day. As is the camp washing! Is it bed time?!

Midlife

I fear I may be reaching midlife. Or having some sort of crisis?! I needed a new cover for my washing line. So treated myself to a new one. And matching peg bag.

This makes me so happy. I’m owning this moment. If you don’t get it, one day you may. 😂
