Babysitter

I got to have cuddles with this little cherub today. He’s 14 weeks old and scrumptious. I was babysitting while his Mum was being adjusted. A lovely little perk to peopling on a Monday.

Babies have a certain smell. My Mum loved babies. She always used to comment on their smell. I get what she meant.

I’ve had people assume that I don’t like children because I didn’t have them. It’s not true. I like other people’s. Just never wanted them myself. I’m much happier having animals instead.

Bert came with me today as I was doing a longer day. He was very content sleeping in the sunshine. We went for a little walk at lunchtime. The crocuses were in full bloom in the nearby churchyard. So pretty. I love crosses. They’re such happy flowers.

Dosa fun

I love it when I get to try something new. And today I tried somefood new! It was our Chiro’s Christmas Meal. Bit late I know. It was lovely to get all the therapists who work out of the clinic together. We went to Namaste, a local Indian Restaurant. I had a Dosa…

I’m going to be honest, I’d never heard of it before. It sounded intriguing so I thought I’d give it a whirl. It’s a crepe filled with masala spiced cheese mashed potato. It was kinda weird. It was kinda wonderful. I liked it, but couldn’t tell you why. I’d have it again, but definitely needed a side salad or something. It was a bit heavy.

We had a right laugh as we did a bit of a Secret Santa by bringing a naff present. Then drew names to see who got it. I ended up with 3 hyacinth bulbs. I was chuffed! In fact, everyone was pleased with the gift they got. Spooky! Just goes to show how what seems naff to one person is appreciated by someone else.

Fruit

Super sub was called into action today with a full day of peopling at the chiropractors. This was written on the board. I really liked it.

It’s easy to get frustrated and give up. And don’t get me wrong, there are times when giving up on something is definitely the right thing to do.

But most times, staying the course, pays dividends. One to think about…

Muscles

The chiropractor’s theme for March is about building muscles. Did you know that most people don’t carry enough muscle?

I didn’t realise that you lose skeletal muscles as early as your 30s. You lose mass as well as strength. But you can also build them at any age.

From 50 onwards your muscle mass decreases 1-2% every year if you’re not training them.

Fascinating stuff. I was working on my muscles behind the desk.

Of course, I’d till prefer the type that goes with frites and crusty bread…

Monsoon

Well it was monsoon season in Norwich this afternoon. There was rather a lot of rain.

I’ve been peopling this week so been having some wonderful chats. It’s lovely to catch up with lots of the clients I haven’t seen for a while. One even squealed when she arrived and saw me behind the desk.

Another arrived soaked to the bone after getting caught in the deluge. Ever practical, I got her a towel and a gown to change into while I put her clothes in the tumble drier. She was very thankful indeed.

Sometimes a little act of kindness can make a huge difference. Though she did get a few odd looks in the gown.

Hidden beauty

I’ve been asked to cover the next few Monday’s at the Chiro’s. It was a rather busy day with lots of changes to deal with. But got to have lots of good chats.

The main topic of conversation was the weather. Well we are British. It was a very lazy wind today. With some bite to it. So different from the mild days we’ve been having.

The other topic of conversation was at what point do you stop asking people about their Christmas. And saying Happy New Year! The jury is very much out on those. Lots of views given.

Spotted this little flower when I was opening up this morning. No idea what it is. But it was a very pretty way to start the day.

Nutrients

One advantage to working at my Chiropractor’s is that I get to read lots of information on all manner of health and lifestyle stuff.

Today I was reading about the benefits of Omega 3. So decided to add some to my diet. Love a mega pack. 150 tablets will definitely last me a while…!! Let’s hope it work.

A year on…

So today is a year since we started lockdown. In some ways, I can’t believe it’s been a year. In others, I can’t believe it’s only been a year.

What a year it’s been. Highs and lows. Tears and tantrums. New beginnings and sad endings. It’s definitely been a rollercoaster. One to remember and one I’ll never forget.

This time last year, I went to man the reception desk for my chiropractor to help her out. Today I did the same. Funny how life does that?! I worked for her yesterday as well.

It was lovely to have a couple of people days. And chat to people.
