Porphyrophile

Purple has always been a favourite colour of mine. I never knew there was a word for it. That’s kinda cool.

As a child, I had a lot of purple stuff. Including a tomahawk bike that my Dad spray painted purple for me.

As an adult, purple has been a constant colour in my life. There have been rather a large number of bruised body parts in that colour too sadly.

In fact I’m wearing a purple top as I write this. Thankfully no bruises to go with it.

I find it fascinating how we’re drawn to certain colours. And don’t like others. Just goes to show how different we are (and the same too).

Watched

It’s been rather weird being in my parents house today. I’ve spent many days here on my own. After all, we moved here when I was 4 years old. Today it felt different. Understandably.

But I was being watched. Literally. This photo of my Mum sits on top of the display cabinet. It was a professional photo she’d had taken when she was 21 and had just had her VERY long hair cut short. It’s always been favourite photo for me. Today it brought me comfort.

As did the photos around the house. She looked so vibrant and full of life. The past 5 years have been very tough. Many of you have been on the ‘Parental Rollercoaster’ with me over that time. They’ve both had more than their fair share of medical issues. I’ve seen the inside of far too many hospital wards. I used to joke with my Mum that she didn’t get a prize for ticking them all off! Or frequent NHS flyer point. She definitely wracked up a few! They both have.

Hopefully, I’ve seen the last ward for a while as my Dad was discharged and is now back home…

Suffolk fun

Headed to Suffolk today to meet a friend for lunch. Good job we weren’t meeting at the pub. My phone decided that you don’t need data while you’re on the phone so my Sat Nav thought I was still at home. 😱 Needless to say, I took the scenic route.

Still it was work it for a lovely day. Great food, great company and a TMJ release to boot.

Saw this sign in the pub. I’m such a child…. 😂

First mugs

This is my first mug. My parents bought it for me in Germany after I was born. It’s stamped Schirnding, Bavaria. They’ve kept it all these years. My Dad found it when he was clearing some stuff and kept it for me.

It’s tiny. Definitely more expresso than latte. Good job I’m more of an expresso girl.
