Late bloomer

How pretty is this rose? It’s almost glowing. The only issues is that it really shouldn’t be flowering right now. It’s so mild, I have lots of things coming back. My sweet peas have started to grow again.

Not that I’m complaining. My garden looks really pretty with lots of new growth. My lawn needs mowing. But it’s nearly November.

The weather feels as surreal as my life right now. So I’m grounding myself and focusing on the little things.

Iris

How pretty is this iris? It bloomed overnight and greeted me this morning when I went to get the bins in. Oh the glamour.

I was due to have a ‘walk & talk’ this morning. That turned into a ‘sit in sunshine & talk’. Afterwards, I took a moment to look around my garden. So much has bloomed in the sunshine. It seems my garden is solar powered too.

Blooming border

My front border has exploded into bloom. Seemingly overnight. Or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.

Once more, there’s been a bit going on in my world. I wonder if I need to just accept that my life is chaotic and stop expecting it to be otherwise. But then I’d probably be bored if it was all plain sailing (says the woman who gets seasick on a millpond).

So this afternoon, I took time to actually look around me. And I mean REALLY look. There is so much beauty. So much to be grateful for. So much to appreciate.

These flowers don’t care about the state of things. They just bloom. A lesson to us all.

Bonuses

Check out my stunning amaryllis. It’s got a bonus baby too, so I will have more stunning flowers. My amaryllis from last year is getting ready to bloom too. What a wonderful sight. And a wonderful Christmas present. For the past few years, my friend Jan has given me one. They seem to love this sunny spot.

Wish I could say the same about all of my plants. I was woken up by a loud thud this morning. It seemed one of the kittens had knocked a plant over in the conservatory. There was soil all over the place, in their bowl and on the mats.

So out came the hoover. And off went the kittens. Glaring at me through the doors in the rain.

As the hoover was out, I did the rest of the house. Then washed their bowls. Before feeding them (and me). All before coffee. An interesting way to start the day.

Blessed

These beautiful blooms were delivered today. From the friend I met for coffee yesterday. She wanted to bring some more joy to my life as she knew I was having a tough time. Made me cry when they arrived.

I feel very blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life. Who check in on me. Who put an arm round me. Who left me cry on them. Who give me a hug. Who make me smile. Who make me laugh. Who make me feel seen. Who love me.

First blooms

I spotted the first bud has started to open on one of my roses. Popped out to take this photo to hear the distant sound of thunder. It didn’t take long to hit. And boy did it hit! Another corker of a thunderstorm.

Now you know I love a thunderstorm. And I’m also culinarily challenged. It seems the two are now linked as I’d put my dinner in the oven before heading to the conservatory to watch the thunderstorm.

When I returned to check my dinner, the oven was off. The power has gone off briefly and I hadn’t realised. My dinner was still raw.

So I got longer to watch the storm while I waited. Again.

Blooming marvellous

It’s felt very Spring-like today. I was tempted to hang the laundry on the line, it was that nice. I started the day with a bit of Spring cleaning too. Always feels good.

Spotted this beauty in the border. Think it’s a hellibore, but not totally sure. Whatever it is, it’s a stunner.
