I found a new plant centre today. I could have spent a fortune! Couldn’t resist these for my garden.

Welcome to blog! I started it in 2020 to chart my recovery from breaking my ankle (hence the name). I guess no-one saw a global pandemic coming. It's turned into a place where I can talk about the things happening in my life, my horse and my cats. Enjoy!
I found a new plant centre today. I could have spent a fortune! Couldn’t resist these for my garden.

Guess who got caught out in a thunderstorm! Good job my hair is curly that’s all I’m saying…

Finally we get proper rain, thunder and lightening. It’s been so humid today, even though the cool has been much welcome after the roasting temperature of last week.
The rain is so loud on my conservatory, you can hardly hear yourself think! My boys are sticking close too. The kittens are being braver with the thunder this time.
It’s bucketing it down! I can almost hear the plants drinking it in. Guess I won’t need to water tonight.

After a full on few weeks, today was a lazy day. I didn’t get dressed till lunchtime! Took Buddy out for a lovely hack. It was so humid even after the rain. After the ridiculous temperatures of this week, it was actually refreshing to feel a little chill in the air.

We’ve got rain! We’ve got thunder! We’ve got lightning!
We’re also got rather mad kittens. Not sure they’re that keen on the thunder. They’re wide-eyed and very bushy tailed!!
My poor washing machines. They’ve done 7 loads today. 4 for me and 3 for Buddy. Still got some more to do! I was only away for 3 days!!
Thankfully I’m not feeling too achey after camp not camp. I am very tired though. I bet Buddy is too! He’s having a few days off and I’m trying to rest too. Hard when there’s a lot to catch up on. The world won’t end though if I don’t get to it…

I came across these tractors when I was away. I’m quite partial to heavy machinery too.
Anyone else see faces?!

A little video from our lesson yesterday. Wearing silicon knee patches for sitting trot means I now have friction burns on my inner thighs. Lesson learnt there! Buddy is getting stronger and carrying himself so much more. And I’m learning to do less and being clearer in my aids.
Back home after 3 days of training with Buddy. We had a great time! We survived the blistering heat. It was unbearable at times, so lots of wash downs and fluids for Buddy (and I may have stuck my head under the hose a few times).
We learnt so much in such a short space of times. Today we worked on sitting trot and more leg yielding. This afternoon it was another technical jumping exercise.
Buddy took everything in his stride. That’s the biggest takeaway for me. He didn’t spook. He didn’t get upset. He didn’t overreact. He listened and tried his little heart out for me.
I’m utterly shattered, but a good tired. The kind of tired you get from working hard. I averaged 30K steps per day. I ache all over too.
Think we will both sleep well tonight!

Day 2 of camp not camp and lots more lightbulb moments. This morning we worked on leg yielding and Buddy did his first flying changes. This afternoon a rather technical jumping exercise. Made my brain hurt, let alone Buddy’s.
Buddy discovered the joys of stud muffin treats today. Let’s just say he’s a big fan.
It’s felt slightly cooler today. But still a tad toasty!
