Yard time

Thought I’d head to the yard earlier today and take Buddy out for a hack. It seemed every man and his dog had the same idea. Rarely seen that many walkers or dogs out.

Buddy was slightly distracted by the kids screaming in a nearby garden so it gave us a chance to do some schooling on the field.

Even though I’d got there early, I still managed to lose 5 hours! Yard time really is different to normal time. Still it was very productive. Gave Buddy a hot towel wash after our hack. Cleaned my tack. And tidied my stuff up.

I call that a good Sunday.

Oven bottom

Popped to Co-op on my way back from the yard and they had these bad boys. I’m rather partial to an oven bottom muffin. But they don’t always have them. Bought two packs (one for the freezer).

Sometimes a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

Meatloaf

Another rock legend has gone to the stadium in the sky. I saw him in concert at Wembley Arena in the late 90s. It was epic! My ears were ringing for days afterwards.

Around that time, Bat out of Hell was played to death in my car. Literally as it was on cassette and got jammed (even the pencil trick didn’t work).

Brings back very happy memories of full volume, windows open, cigarette on the go and singing as loud as I could through the country roads of West Sussex. I might have to download it…

Marketing fail

This made me laugh today. As a marketeer I know about effective targeting of your message. It seems my close is in a certain demographic. People think I’m joking when I say I brought the average age down.

I know I’m in my 50s now, but not sure these are relevant to me.

Ringlets

As a kid, I always wanted ringlets. I used to make my Mum put rags in my hair overnight to get them. All I ended up with was a sore head. I don’t recommend it, it’s really uncomfortable.

Growing up my hair was a bit hit and miss. Straight bits, kinky bits and curls. As an adult, I spent ages trying to tame it. I permed it. I even had a spiral perm. I straightened it. But it always had a way of doing it’s own thing.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve let it just be. It can do what it likes. I’ve embraced the dragged through a hedge look. And it seems that after all these years, I got the ringlets I desired as a kid. Funny how things work out…

Winter Wonderland

While Winter isn’t my favourite season, I do love the frosty sunny days. There’s something magical about the warmth of the sun against the cold crunch of the frost.

This morning it was a whiteout. But soon the sun was streaming in through the conservatory. Just beautiful.

Good tired

I have to admit, I’m a tad tired today. But a really good tired. The kind where you know you’ve done good stuff. I love driving but motorway driving can be tiring.

It was such a gorgeous day that I could resist heading down to the yard to ride. I’d missed his little face. He sniffed me all over so guessing he missed me too.

The kittens were like shadows today. They’d barely left my side. It’s nice to be missed.

Puppy Love

You know you’ve made a really good impression when you go to leave and the dog wants to come home with you.

Back home after my trip to North Wales. It was utterly brilliant. Loved spending time with Katie and her family. Thank you for making me so welcome.

Even managed to catch up with my nieces Amy and Katie and my great-nephew Alex on the way back.

It was a long way, but worth it. I shall sleep well tonight.

Great Orme

Another outing today. To Llandudno to check out the view from Great Orme. Snowdon was hiding in the cloud cover. But I could see Snowdonia National Park.

North Wales has been a revelation. I had no idea how beautiful it was. I love going new places. Old Colwyn is one I will definitely want to come back to again.
