Sanatorium

Day 432 of being ill. OK Day 4 and I’m utterly bored of it now. I’ve rested for 3 days and it’s still got a hold of me. I’m even boring myself writing about it. 😂

At least the weather has been kind. So I’ve been back in the sanatorium today. Did manage to make it to the yard to see Buddy and a little bit of work. So that’s progress. More resting and patience for me.

I am definitely getting better as I had to resist the urge to mow the lawn. That would be a step too far right now. But it’s on the list!

Snot funny

After feeling better yesterday, I took a turn for the worst overnight. Woke up at 6:30am sneezing, coughing and generally feeling pants. Called it and withdrew from the dressage competition I’d entered.

The body is amazing, but how the hell does it produce so much snot?! Mine seems to be every good at it! We’ve all got talents I suppose…

I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to getting back between the boards. Well done everyone who was out today. I was cheering you on (from my snot-induced coma).

If I’m honest, the preparation wasn’t the best. And it’s highlighted that our schooling has slidden as I’ve been focusing on jumping. So decided to get back to regular lessons again.

I’m not being hard on myself. I understand why we are where we are. I’ve been pulled in a lot of directions lately. Guess my body has decided that I need a bit of rest.

So I spent the day in my ‘sanatorium’ aka the conservatory. Another early night for me.

Little savings

In amongst the doom and gloom of the world right now, this was a lovely surprise. My water bill arrived and I’m in credit!! I kinda felt I was over paying when my DD doubled last year. Now it’s less than it was in 2019. I’ll take that with everything else going up!!

I’ve had another day of resting as I’m still feeling heady and snotty. So much better than yesterday so fingers crossed it’s on its way out.

Rubbish

Not my finest day. I woke up at 10am! With a head cold! Full of snot and fuzzy headed. Deep joy. Guessing I’ve overdone it over the past few weeks. 😩 So a day of rest and doing very little for me. God that’s dull?!

Yesterday I made a few decisions that would free up my day so I could catch up on stuff. That went out of the window.

Spent most of the day sunning myself in the conservatory with the kittens. Typical that the weather has improved too.

While sat there, I spotted something in the border, so went to investigate it. These masks get everywhere?! Guessing it was blown here yesterday in the high winds.

It’s now been put in the bin where it belongs.

Storm damage

What on earth has been up with the weather today?! Four seasons again. One minute to was sunny, the next chucking it down. Driving was fun as there was horizontal rain and gusts.

This made me laugh when I got home. Storm damage Chez Langley.

Taverna

What a day! First up was a trip to Newmarket to pick up the horse from Monday.

When I got back I sorted out the lorry and rode Buddy. Then I had an appointment to have my bars done. That was intense.

Finally stopped off at Lidl to get food. Found these in the freezer section of Lidl. Took me back to Greek holidays. I could quite happily sit in a taverna right now.

I’ll have to settle for chilling on the sofa instead.

Effectiveness

I found this travel mug in my cupboard. It was a free one I got from Nespresso. I say free, it was one of those spend a fortune and get a gift ones.

I’d totally forgot it. But needed one today as I was working all day at my Chiropractor’s. I’ve used many a travel mug, but my goodness, this is one of the most effective I’ve had.

I burnt my tongue so many times today as it kept my drinks at Vesuvius levels. Is it possible for something to be too effectiveness?!

It looks so pretty though…

Trigger

I had to take a horse to Newmarket today. Not Buddy thankfully. When I got back I was skipping out the lorry and noticed just how worn my lorry broom is. I think it may be time to get a new one.

This one has lasted me nearly 12 years, so not bad really. Makes me think of Trigger from Only Fools and Horses. Showing my ages I know…

Layers

Today I went out for hack fearing I’d overlayered. There was some warmth in the sun and it felt very Spring-like indeed.

Halfway round, the sun disappeared and I was very grateful of my extra layers. It felt very Wintery again.

At least we didn’t see any April Showers.

The power of the clipboard

Today I was helping out at the Riding Club Combined Training. I was on the SJ gate. And joy of joys, they gave me a clipboard. 👏🏻

I love a clipboard. And woe betide anyone who underestimates the power of a clipboard. That simple item bring a gravitas and air of authority.

Needless to say, I was a happy bunny keeping track of everyone.

Got back and told Buddy all about it. He was thrilled as you can see. Freeschooled him and had a play session before cooling him off in the sunshine. I’ve warned him that we are off competing soon. 😊
