War wounds

I started the day with a yoga class. And definitely felt quite a few tight bits. So feeling that right now. Also managed to hurt my hand. Only I could damage myself coming out of the toilet rather than the yoga class!

The door was designed for right handed people so when I opened it with my left hand I got it trapped between the door and the wall. Bad design but there you go. It is sore, but I’ll live. Still I’m sure I’ll feel the benefits of the yoga class…

Camp Amigos

Today the camp amigos got back together for a wonderful hack round Blickling. It’s not even been two weeks since we were last together but I’ve missed them. We walked and talked round the estate. And topped it off with a spot of lunch in the car park. Don’t say we don’t know how to live…!?

Four exceptional horses. Of course, we proved once again how hard it is to get a good photo of horses and riders. When selfies didn’t work, we asked a passing walker to help us out.

London 2012

This photo came up on my memories today. It was 10 years ago that London 2012 started. At the time, I was working at Aviva, running the internal celebrations campaigns for the Diamond Jubilee, Euro 2012 and London 2012. It was a huge challenge, but an incredible thing to be part of.

We had red, white and blue bunting in every location (including Belfast), office street parties and of course, office Olympics.

Little did I know that it would be my last year with Aviva. So much has changed in the last decade. Back then my biggest worries were would London 2012 be a success, would Team GB win any medals and our employees play on the Xbox.

I’m so proud of achievements I’ve had in my career. And the things I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of.

I‘m also incredibly proud of the way I’ve faced everything that I’ve been through in that decade. I’m a very different person to the one in this photo.

Pugged

This afternoon I got pugged! Popped over to some friends to see their new place. It was fab to catch up.

I seemed to be a bit of a hit with their dogs as all of them sat with me. Bit too much of a hit with one of their pugs as I got humped. Again.

What can I say, it must be my animal magnetism!?! If only I could attract men as easily…

Lapdogs

My dog sitting duties are over. They were exceptionally well behaved. Took them out for an early walk to beat the heat. Thankfully there was a cooling breeze as it’s been a tad warm again.

I was at a bit of a loose end this morning. I felt very decadent as I had nothing to do. So the dogs and I watched a film called ‘The Sea Beast’. It was an animation and really sweet.

When I got home, I pottered in the garden for a bit (before I got too hot). Then went and gave Buddy a bath (and I didn’t mind getting sprayed too).

Puppy sitting

I’m puppy sitting this weekend for this gorgeous little boy and his big sister. I love dogs and one day I’m going to get another one of my own. Till then, I get my puppy fix any way I can.

The pair of them were having a blast round the garden doing zoomies. Made me laugh. Now they’re both fast asleep.

Blooming marvellous

When one of my neighbours moved away last year, she asked if I’d like some of the agapanthus from her garden. Never one to turn down a free plant, I happily accepted a clump.

I didn’t think to ask what colour it was or how big it would grown. I’m sure some gardeners would. I’m more of a throw it in and see how it fairs kinda gardener.

Well it’s an absolute stunner. And seems to love the warm weather as it’s exploded into flower. It looks great in the new border I created last year. And works really well with the other agapanthus, aliums and lilies.

Love it.

Flip flop fail

Today is a sad day. My favourite flip flops broke. I’ve had them so long that I can’t really remember where I bought them. It was on a holiday I’m sure. But since then they’ve been my chosen footwear round the house each Summer. They’ve been on holiday with me. They’ve been to camps too.

I might try and fix them but I fear I may have to bin them and break in some new ones.

I wonder how many miles they’ve covered. I’ve definitely got my money’s worth from them.

Hoof soup

You know it’s been hot when your tub of hoof dressing looks more like soup! It’s a tad melted. Still works though, even if it was running down Buddy’s hooves.

He had the farrier tonight. Since he had to have his shoe off for a bit a few weeks back, he’s lost a big chunk out of his hoof. It looks a bit of a mess. But Buddy doesn’t seem bothered by it. And he’d kept the shoe on without issue.

Given the problems he’s had with that hoof, my farrier asked me to trot him up after he’d shod him. Poor Buddy was uncomfortable on that hoof again. So off the shoe came and after a few adjustments and nailed it was back on differently, Buddy was good again. So glad we checked.
