Carry on showing

This photo came up on my memories and always makes me giggle. It was 7 years ago at The Veteran Horse Society Champs.

Is it any wonder we call it ‘Carry on Showing’?! I’ve definitely had more than a few laughs over the years at a variety of horse shows. Long may that continue!!

Deer deer

Another couple of firsts for Buddy today. Our first outing to Gunton Hall and his first experience of BIG deer!! And lots of them. There were several herd of Red and Fallow deer. The stags had huge antlers too. They really are magnificent creatures.

I have to admit, Buddy was amazing! He was a bit weirded out at times, but he soon settled. Very proud of him today. Even though there was lots for him to look at, he jumped lots of the bigger jumps there.

Stubble dreams

Oh how we’d love to go for a blast on the stubble. Buddy and I will have to keep dreaming though. We’re not allowed on these fields. I’m very grateful for the off-road hacking we have, so I wouldn’t want to break the rules. As tempting as this looks….

It’s definitely an equestrian thing. To look at a stubble field or a beach and think bring on the galloping….. 😝

Garden envy

This afternoon Colette and I headed over to East Ruston Old Vicarage for her birthday treat. On my days, talk about garden envy!

We spend the whole time saying ‘wow’. It’s absolutely stunning. We both agreed we need to come back in every season. Next trip is already planned for my birthday. 👏🏻

We came away with loads of inspiration, ideas and a few plants.

Cat claimed

My Dad gave me some stuff to give to Hallswood for their charity shop. The kittens have claimed something already.

Cats really do love new stuff. Anything that gets brought into the house usually gets claimed. Think they missed me while I was away. It’s good to be home again after another long round trip.

First mugs

This is my first mug. My parents bought it for me in Germany after I was born. It’s stamped Schirnding, Bavaria. They’ve kept it all these years. My Dad found it when he was clearing some stuff and kept it for me.

It’s tiny. Definitely more expresso than latte. Good job I’m more of an expresso girl.

Memory lane

This office block is next to my parents house. We used to play tennis against this wall. We used to see how high we could hit the ball up it. I wasn’t very good as my hand eye co-ordination isn’t the best. But we’d spend many an evening out there (and avoiding the cars in the car park).

I ended up working in it for a while too.

It’s no longer an office block as being turned into flats. Guess what woke me up this morning…?!?!

Connections

I’m down at my parents for a few days and saw this map on the wall. It must have always been there, but I’ve just noticed it. Spooky that I should end up making Norfolk my home. I’ve found Strumpshaw is on there, but no Brundall.

Mum is recovering from a surgical procedure so I’ve come down to lend a hand (literally as the procedure was on her finger).

Burnham Market

Headed to Burnham Market Horse Trials today to meet my friends Nigel, Julie and their dog Jeff. It’s been a while since I’ve been there. Forgotten how undulating it is there. Jeff was in training for Badders next year. He aced it! He wasn’t bothered by the horses at all. Clever boy Jeff.

It was great catching up with people too. It was inspiring watching the action. One day Buddy and I will be competing there too. 👏🏻
