Latte

Anyone who knows my Mum will know her love of a frothy coffee. So today I took her one when I went to visit her. It put a smile on her face.

She’s doing well but not ready to come home yet. Dad is also doing well. And actually listening to me telling him to rest.

He wanted a burger for dinner. So good daughter that I am, I drove to Hickstead to get him Burger King. Well makes a change from driving to Hickstead to watch horses.

Jack and Jill

I had some errands to run so while I was in the car, I headed up to the South Downs for a walk. I needed some fresh air to clear my head. Parked at Jack & Jill Windmill. Somewhere I used to visit a lot but haven’t been to for years.

Jack is the black one in the back and Jill is the white one. They’re both privately owned but cut quite the figure.

I’d forgotten how beautiful the views are from up there. You can see for miles towards London and right out to sea. I could even make out the hospital where my parents are in the distance.

I may have moved away in 2006. And made a home in Norfolk. But Sussex will always have a place in my heart.

Wishing Chair

One of the fun things about staying at my parents is that I stumble across things from my childhood. Take this book for example. I grew up reading Enid Blyton. And The Wishing Chair was one of my favourite. Famous Five was my favourite by far! I always wanted a border collie and I was definitely more George than Anne. Oh and I love ginger beer!!

The stories encouraged my sense of adventure, friendship and fun. I’ve often felt like I would have been right at home in one. Let’s face it, I’ve had a LOT of adventures in my life. I definitely plan on having tons more too.

After working most of the day, I headed to the hospital to see my parents. The staff are already recognising me. They ask how the other parent is doing. One asked how I was doing. Being honest, it’s been a really tough few years with my parents health issues. I’ve mentally prepared myself for the worst many times. So grateful every day I still have two parents.

After spotting this book, I made a few wishes of my own. And drank a ginger beer, though mine has alcohol in it…

Visiting hours

Bit of deja vue today as I’m back in Haywards Heath visiting my Dad in hospital. FB told me it was a year since I had to drop everything to look after Mum when Dad was rushed in. Sadly we’ve had a few more visits in that year.

Today I got to visit them both! Different wards, but at least the same hospital this time. I’ve had them in different ones before.

They’re both in for the weekend. So looks like I’ll be doing a few visiting hours.

It’s been a stressful few days I can tell you.

Shorn

Someone is looking rather sexy after his clip. I love it when he’s first clipped. He’s so soft.

Clipping with Buddy has been a bit of a journey. He’s not always been a fan to say the least. Today, he got a gold star from Auntie Beki. He got a big kiss and a hug from her as he was the best he’s ever been!

It wasn’t just Buddy who got chopped today. I had my first professional haircut for nearly two years. Feeling much lighter for it too.

A proper pamper day! Much needed too.

It’s a dog’s life

I’ve been dog sitting today, looking after these lovely girls. One of the advantages of running my own business is that I can work anywhere. So it was easy for me to camp out somewhere different for a change.

It was lovely to take them for a run at lunchtime. Well they did the running. I walked in the glorious sunshine.

Another church

Headed over to Hemblington today to meet up with a very wise woman for a walk and talk. Makes a change for me to do the talking on one of these.

I had no idea Hemblington was so pretty. I’ve seen the signpost, but not checked it out. The church is so pretty too. Tiny. It was open so we looked inside.

Then we sat in the graveyard on the bench and put the world to rights. She helped clear a few things in my head. The past few weeks have been curveball after curveball. I’ve felt a little punch drunk with it all if I’m honest.

Being sat in the sunshine and out in nature helped too. I think I must have been a plant in a former life…

Church Tower

Today I got to do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I got to go inside a church I’ve ridden past for the past 12 years. And climb up to the top of the tower as well.

The latter was up two rather wobbly ladders. I had a wobble on the first one as it was making a very weird noise. But after a few deep breaths and a brain reset, I carried on. So glad I did. The views were stunning!!

I had no idea how pretty the church was inside too. I do love a church. They’re such soothing places.

Fun guy

Spotted this on our hack today. I had to double back to check it. I’m guessing it’s a mushroom of some sort.

Whatever it is, it’s huge!! The size of a human skull. And yes it might have crossed our mind…. Well Halloween is not far away.
